Warner Bros. Discovery has expanded its live sports broadcasts by securing a package of MWC football games. WBD (TNT Sports) signed a multi-year agreement to broadcast Mountain West college football games on truTV and Max starting this season. This is the first time since the 2000s, when TBS aired Big 12 and Pac-12 games, that Turner Sports networks will feature a regular schedule of college football games. I've not seen the financial agreements between the MWC or how it impacts AD budgets. The MWC deal is part of WBD's recent spree of media rights acquisitions, including rights to the French Open and Big East basketball, following the expiration of its exclusive NBA negotiating window. TNT is expected to lose their NBA rights. The truTV & Max schedule is linked here. themw.com/news/2024/07/01/tnt-sports-and-mountain-west-reach-multi-year-college-football-agreement-beginning-this-season/

Just throwing it out there again. A best of the rest conference with TNT/TBS/TruTV/Max as the TV partners/streaming might work.

Mountain West as we know it will be gone soon anyway. Last couple Pac stragglers and the best of the rest to create the new Pac.

would guess that with an expected low amount of money from a TV deal that travel becomes important for be it PAC or whatever conference SDSU gets into
In addition the fees for schools to leave their conferences

What Big East's new television deal tells us about Mountain West's upcoming negotiations -https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/reporters/what-big-easts-new-television-deal-tells-us-about-mountain-wests-upcoming-negotiations#
It looks like the Big East doubled the value of the media rights, the six-year media-rights deal that will run through the 2030-31 season and includes a partnership with Fox Sports, NBC Sports and TNT.
"..The Big East did not announce the financial terms of the deal, but Sportico estimated the Big East would double its annual media money from $41.7 million per year under the previous 12-year deal. That would pencil out to $75 million to $80 million per year, or roughly $7 million per year for each of the Big East's 11 members..."
The implications are that the MWC may have more options, and bigger allotments should all things remain constant. Again, that appears unlikely with the ACC Lawsuit, the PAC2 expansion and all the crazy talk from the Big 12.

I know there would be issues in any new conference that would frustrate Aztec fans but I can't imagine anything that would be as bad as the general way we were treated by the MWC powers-that-be and the absurd travel logistics. PLEASE....PLEASE let something happen!

But, only if we move up? The way things have been going last couple years......I'll believe it when I see it! A reconstituted PAC would be similar to the original Mountain West Conference (MWC). The MWC was formed as a breakaway from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), which had expanded to 16 teams, including four Southwest Conference teams from Texas and a few Big West football schools. The MWC was established in 1999 with eight members: San Diego State, BYU, Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, UNLV, Utah, and Wyoming. TCU joined in 2005, and Boise State was added in 2011. The remaining ankle weights, Fresno State, Nevada, Hawaii, San Jose State, and Utah State, joined in 2012 and 2013. The new PAC may have a similar composition to the original MWC breakaway teams: San Diego State, Air Force, Colorado State, UNLV, and (add on) Boise State. Utah, BYU, and TCU have already moved on.

I'll go anywhere as long as we don't have to play BB in Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah State

I'll go anywhere as long as we don't have to play BB in Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah State I think Air Force needs to be on this list, means absolutely nothing playing and beating them year after year and the elevation does not help.

Oh, know and remember it well. Was good for a while. But, with a losing FB and BB( at the time) teams we were just bottom feeders, while UU, Bywho, TCU succeeded in moving onward and upward before it started sinking. For whatever reason, lack vision, academic status, failure on courts/fields, all of the above, we have basically gone backwards in viable conference standing. Always a bridesmaid, never a burro!

This is why I think the focus on what conference we are in is a bit misguided. State just needs to Focus on State, there is no white knight. If the B12 or ACC or some other conference comes calling, then great but operate as if the only entity that will do right by State is State. This is a new state of mind, even for myself, just focus on us. Honestly, no one likes us, and I don't care.

When Utah, TCU and BYU were successful here I'm sure they were trying to negotiate with others behind the scene. Nobody "gives" you anything. You have to seek it. It makes me wonder if Wicker is actively pursuing a way out of here.

As mentioned SDSU can at the present time focus on doing as well as it can on the football field . In addition the AD has to do its best to get people in the stands And possibly as important to make sure he makes as many fans as possible aware of the channels and times the football games are on - as it is quite important to have as many TV Viewers watching the games and or taping them
Sure seems that are a wide variety of channels the games are on - now that TNT/ TRUTV has been added
In addition would guess that Wicker is in contact with the PAC 2 schools as they are in control of the possible expansion . Also possibly to hear what the AD's from Stanford and CAL - are thinking about their future with the ACC - especially since ESPN has a decision to make about the ACC in February .
So SDSU can basically keep doing what it can do while knowing OSU and WSU are the Leaders of the PAC ( think that was an oldy but goody hit )

Hard to get excited about this media deal: 5 San Jose State games. 4 New Mexico games. Surprisingly, just 1 SDSU game (v. Tex. A&M Commerce). Disappointing, unless these are the only games that were left without a TV slot.

Disappointing, unless these are the only games that were left without a TV slot. Yes, these were the games that were left without a TV slot. So now they will be professionally produced and have decent distribution through Tru and MAX. Additionally, it creates a relationship between the MW and Warner Bros.
