I feel the exact same way as you do concerning Scottie. He's my number 2 guy I root for him for all the reasons you stated. I really like how he handled the arrest incident, as well. With total class. Many golfers are great guys... but when it comes to favorites, X and Scottie are hard to beat. Agreed on how he handled things. I already liked him but when I saw him on Season 1 of "Full Swing", I just liked the way he lives his life and carrie's himself. His discipline and dedication to his faith, and that he was willing to lwt the camera film that ... then heads his sidewalk down the street in the neighborhood to get coffee ... I was sold. I was really happy for him when the truth came out about the arrest ... when the videos came out ... and showed the officer's "version" of what happened was not exactly what happened ... I wasn't surprised. As a huge supporter of our military and first responders (police, fire, etc), it was disappointing that detective seems to be one of "those kind" of cops ... and Scottie is who we thought he is. Ok, enough Scottie from me. Back to X ... Go get your next major, then a Gold Medal repeat!! Very well said.

I wonder why they keep his endorsements hidden. They're substantial.

Yeah, remember Tiger's monstrous endorsement with Nike? Xander must be getting a nice chunk out of Calloway.

AztecForLife2006 ... thanks for the correction of his residence, didn't know he'd moved. Wow, that's kinda big, don't blame him... the amount of additional money he will keep vs paying to taxes in CA is massive. You can continue to try to almost punitively make the richest pay even more than their fair share than they do now, but at some point many will just move to another state. Those people can afford move anywhere and live in the life of luxury. California's leadership is too smug and clueless in overvaluing the greatness of the state. Still an amazing and beautiful state with everything you'd ever want ... but ... I'll just leave it there. Sorry to go on a little rant ... I digress ... back to X ... Bet he still has a place in SD though. I sure would!Hope X learned a few things this past weekend that readies him even more for Pinehurst. He's the #2 favorite almost everywhere and with most of the "experts". Now maybe Scottie might need to get arrested again for X to win, but we will see. Just in case ... I'M KIDDING about SS have a run in with the law ... obviously. In fact, I really like Scottie, think he's a terrific person with his priorities in great order... class act, nice humble guy ... and a strong "man of faith". Not to mention how scary good he is. If not for X, he'd be my favorite guy to pull for on a tour with a ton of great, likeable guys you can easily pull for. Xander does still own a big home on The Grand Golf Club in Carmel Valley, (but his residence for tax purposes is in Las Vagas.) For anyone...you are taxed by the state where your money is made...so if Xander just earned a check in OH this past weekend...he'll pay state taxes in OH. Additionally, as an American, you are taxed federally for all income produced outside of the US (less any taxes you pay to foreign government)... Nevada is probably better for endorsement money... By the way...my wife and I were recently considering to buy a home and relocating to Austin...only to find out that real estate prices are not that far off from SoCal...AND there is is a 4% property tax where your home is reassessed each year...so if you bought a $1M home...taxes on the home start at $40K and go up every year... My property taxes on my $1M home in San Diego are about $5K per year and my assessment can only go up 3% each year... My state income taxes are at 9.3% versus TX at 0%...so that means that I need to be earning at least $400K per year just to break-even by moving to TX because of the high property taxes there ($5K + $35K) = ($0 + $40K)...NV is a different story though

For property taxes, we pay ~ $2,200 per year on a home worth ~ $475k. No state income tax. Sales tax is 8.375%. In California we only paid $1,100 in property taxes on a home that we ultimately sold for $1.1mm (my wife purchased the house in 1994). It was a dump of home, but it was in the Bay Area. Personally, I absolutely hated the one visit I made to Austin about 5 years ago. 6th avenue isn't my scene, and Texas BBQ is not my favorite.

Nevada will be VERY beneficial for him financially in many ways. Not sure why you brought Texas up? Xander doesn't live there. Also, since someone brought up property taxes, many in the state Democratic legislature want to eliminate or phase out Prop 13, which will destroy the housing market here.

Pinehurst 2 is set up to send players off to their therapists, not their swing coaches! Incredibly long setup and gnarly long ruff, and of course, firm greens will require the payers to accept high scores. Patience will be the biggest necessary skill.
I can’t wait to see X next to Scottie and Rory on Thursday.

If you are a CA resident and you earn money in another state, you will pay income tax in that state/city on those earnings at their statutory rates. In addition, you will also pay CA income tax on the difference between your CA tax rate and the tax rate you paid on the earnings made in the other state if the other state has reciprocity with CA. So you will be ultimately taxed at CA rates on income earned in other states - don't ask me how I know... So in your example, Xander would pay OH income tax of ~3.75% on the earnings and then if he were a resident of CA he would also be taxed in CA on those earnings at ~9.55% (the difference between his 13.3% CA marginal tax rate and the ~3.75%). In Xander's case it makes all of the sense in the world to redomicile to a state without any income tax. He just needs to make sure he (and his wife) don't spend 180 days or more in the state of CA (see Duffield, David).

Recalled the announcers at the PGA said Xander will have a "family" home in Hawaii (Kuwai?), currently under contruction on 22 acres. That's why his father wasn't there. They're a close knit family which is wonderful.

He finally hired a swing coach and it's been showing in his driving accuracy.

X -5 in first round, three off the lead at the Travellers. X made six birdies and one bogie. Honestly, no one is hitting approach shots or putting as well as X, including Scottie. If X could hit a consistent fade on the left to right hole setups I don’t think you could beat him. Today he made clutch putt after clutch putt. Watch out, British Open!

Second straight 65 for X. Seven birds and two bogs. Still trails by three, but in great shape for the weekend; only three players in front of him as of this moment.
