X shot a bogey free 68 and is currently tied for third. He is playing wonderfully consistent golf and seems to put himself into position to have a shot at winning every week. Two weeks until US Open and he’s bound to be one of the favorites.
Go Xander, Aztec For Life.

Bookending the PGA and US Open titles around The Memorial would be nice...

Xander was in total “meh” mood after his round, convinced that his putter was his salvation for getting through the round. Considering he shot four under 68 and bogey free golf, X has certainly established new thresholds for his play now that he is world #2. Not to jinx him, he looks capable of going on a win streak.

Hanging in there today... EVEN through 16 to remain at -4. Scottie starting to do his thing is leading at -8 through 16.

I jinxed him. I’m a world class jinxer, in case anyone besides Azson is paying attention.

Started +3 so no win this weekend.
Hope he turns it around and can grab a top 5-6 finish. That'll be good for his world ranking and FedEx points

Another Top 10 finish.
Xander is putting together an absolutely incredible year... just unfortunate to be playing in the shadow of Scottie right not. Kind of like Phil and Rory during Tiger's reign.

There seems to always be one ... or two ... guys that are the best for a year or two. But the gap between Scottie and everybody and anybody else is big right now. He's just consistently so good and always in the hunt - like Xander- but SS is just one serious level above. I think your Tiger comparison is spot on. The difference is Phil and Rory were both much more known than Xander is. That has nothing to do with talent but more like what tournaments you win - and - how you win. Plus X is more "boring" than those 2. I don't think there's necessarily that big of a difference personality-wise and charisma-wise. Xander is just so chill and laid back. If Xander keeps this up, hopefully can grab a few more majors in the next few years, maybe he's talked about like Phil was and Rory was and still is. Winning and winning majors will eventually make Xander more known. But hey ... he's #2 in the world, making massive amounts of money, gets to continue to live in SD, newly married. No one is feeling bad for X. He's got life by the tail more than most all of us.

If you really want to get mad, then you need to know that Ohtani is getting paid just $2M/year while he plays in California so he can avoid paying CA income taxes on the other $690M. The majority of his income will come after he stops playing and he will pay local taxes on that about at that time.

Not mad about it all..if i could live somewhere to pay less taxes i would do that too. Unfortunately I’m tied here for now. Was just replying to the previous poster that said he was in San Diego

AztecForLife2006 ... thanks for the correction of his residence, didn't know he'd moved. Wow, that's kinda big, don't blame him... the amount of additional money he will keep vs paying to taxes in CA is massive.
You can continue to try to almost punitively make the richest pay even more than their fair share than they do now, but at some point many will just move to another state. Those people can afford move anywhere and live in the life of luxury. California's leadership is too smug and clueless in overvaluing the greatness of the state. Still an amazing and beautiful state with everything you'd ever want ... but ... I'll just leave it there.
Sorry to go on a little rant ... I digress ... back to X ...
Bet he still has a place in SD though. I sure would!
Hope X learned a few things this past weekend that readies him even more for Pinehurst. He's the #2 favorite almost everywhere and with most of the "experts".
Now maybe Scottie might need to get arrested again for X to win, but we will see.
Just in case ... I'M KIDDING about SS have a run in with the law ... obviously. In fact, I really like Scottie, think he's a terrific person with his priorities in great order... class act, nice humble guy ... and a strong "man of faith". Not to mention how scary good he is.
If not for X, he'd be my favorite guy to pull for on a tour with a ton of great, likeable guys you can easily pull for.

Many golfers are great guys... but when it comes to favorites, X and Scottie are hard to beat. Agreed on how he handled things. I already liked him but when I saw him on Season 1 of "Full Swing", I just liked the way he lives his life and carries himself. His discipline and dedication to his faith, and that he was willing to let the camera film that ... then he hits the sidewalk down the street in the neighborhood to get coffee ... I was sold. I was really happy for him when the truth came out about the arrest ... when the videos came out ... and showed the officer's "version" of what happened was not exactly what happened ... I wasn't surprised. As a huge supporter of our military and first responders (police, fire, etc), it was disappointing that detective seems to be one of "those kind" of cops ... but happy Scottie is who we thought he is. Ok, enough Scottie from me. Back to X ... Go get your next major, then a Gold Medal repeat!!
