I was hooping at noon yesterday in Balboa Park with my boys when a gaggle of SDSU players showed up on the center court. Didn't recognize a few of the guys. But definitely recognized Miles Byrd and Micah Parrish, now a Buckeye. Also in the game was Jeremiah "Bear" Cherry, who recently signed with UNLV. Byrd looked good. As usual, he was all over the court, blocking shots, gathering up loose balls, snagging rebounds, etc. He was also shooting and making lots of threes. He still has a funky side-spin release, but they were going in at a nice clip. That is all. Carry on. unlvrebels.com/news/2023/11/10/mens-basketball-jeremiah-bear-cherry-james-evans-pape-n-diaye-all-sign-with-the-runnin-rebels.aspxMuni gym, now you're talking Old School stuff! That place has some stories to tell. Could have done without the Parrish mention, he seemed to have burned his SDSU stay to the point that we no longer need to ever talk about him again (actually took minutes from Bryd and Waters last year!) Go Aztecs! Oh please

I honestly think you can relax on the Micah Parrish hate.. 99 percent of us have taken note that both he and Butler actually graduated which changes the dynamic quite a bit. Graduating has nothing to do with the heat Parrish is getting. Correct, it has to do with dumb fandom.

Graduating has nothing to do with the heat Parrish is getting. He was responding to morons trashing him on X & saying he's only chasing the money. He was exceptionally thankful and appreciative of MESA and donors at the banquet. He's a good kid. I put zero weight on a kid responding to moron "fans" when judging character. That doesn't change my point - Parrish graduating doesn't change the dynamics of anything. If he is insecure enough to spend time worrying about what random people on the internet post, then he should avoid the cesspool that is social media.

Stop going after Aztec players on social. That is a pathetic thing for an adult to do.

Larry bird and Walton would play there in the summer. Yes, a couple of my buddies have told me stories about watching Walton, Bird and a couple other Celtics hooping there back in the '80s. And Muni Gym is featured in the recent Netflix documentary on Walton. It's the closest thing to a hoops Mecca in San Diego.

You think that's logical? He's a good kid. There are some morons on X. That's just the way it is. If you side with the morons attacking him that's on you, not him.

And if he is insecure enough to be bothered by some rando posting criticism or at worst can't ignore the idiots that is his problem if he chooses to stay on social media. I don't side with people posting personal attacks and there is a reason why I called it a cesspool.

I've heard about other pros. Maybe it's time to dust off the old bball shoes. But I'm for sure not a center court player lol.

I guess you could call an Aztec sports forum social media if you wanted, though most would think of TikTok or X or Facebook. Perhaps you too should consider avoiding "social media" if you are so easily triggered.

The funny thing is that SDSU fans do not donate enough NIL. Until we do, every year is going to be more difficult.

The funny thing is that SDSU fans do not donate enough NIL. Until we do, every year is going to be more difficult. None of the big NIL schools are funded by 'fan' donations. If that is the expectation being set then the Aztec program is being set up to fail. If 12,000 fans donated $100 every year that would give the NIL a whopping $1.2million per season do divvy up among 14 players. The ONLY way the Aztecs can compete is if a major corporate donor materializes or a wealthy alum who hasn't been squeezed dry yet steps forward.

There are so many AFLs that transferred into SDSU, so to be upset when a few transfer out isn’t really productive. There are far more coming in to SDSU than leaving.
As a matter of fact, I really can’t think of one player with minutes that has transferred out before this year. There have been a ton of transfers leaving blue bloods. This is what happens when you have a nationally relevant program. We should all be thankful with the state of Aztec hoops. When I started being an Aztec in the 80s this was all just a pipe dream, but now it’s a reality and I couldn’t be happier.
(Well, I lied, I could be happier if UConn wasn’t in the way of a NC)

Yes, we need more businesses to get involved and more big donations. But if the fans do not donate, why should they? If they do not get recognition for their donations, what is the incentive? When we used to have programs, the donors were listed, but they don’t exist anymore. We used to have names of Aztec Club donors on the scoreboard, but we don’t anymore. What recognition do NIL donors get? Businesses donate hoping to get more customers. Individual donors are more complicated, but recognition helps. About 3,000 seats are for students, and 9,000 are for season ticket holders. So, $100 per season ticket holder is $900,000. The NIL tourney is $1,000,000. I believe this would be split between the women’s and men’s teams. So about $40,000 per player for the tourney and an additional $35,000 if all season ticket holders donate $100. The current NIL is about $25,000 per player. Total would be $100,000 per player. That would give us a chance to be better than the average. I am a MESA Black donator. I am retired (fixed income) and instead of going out for a $50 dinner twice a month, I cook at home and donate $100 per month. Saying that someone else must do something doesn’t get anything done. If every season ticket holder donated $100 per month, it would be 10,8 million dollars. Do nothing, then expect nothing.
