I love the idea of another Swiss army knife kid although Dutcher had said they were looking for a wing or a big guard who could shoot. But he's a 26.3% career 3-point shooter. Will the staff overlook the need for outside shooting because they're in love with his defense? I bet yes.

Nice mid-range jumper.

He's listed @ 6'7" 216 lbs but his build looks more muscular and solid than 216. I just love the compilation videos. He sure looks like a shooter in it but that 3 pt% scares me.

it seems that keeping him healthy could be the key issue

That would be a good add.

so does Dutcher have to ask the NIL question ?
In addition is the possible Memphis transfer also coming in for a visit

So have we just given up on going after a wing who can shoot 3’s. The 2 guys visiting shot under 30% last season.

Very good add if it happens. If he stays healthy and can repeat his 22/23 season it’s a great add. If he can’t, that just gives minutes to Compton and Gwath.
He can score around the rim in various ways, can post up, can get to the paint and get off a good shot and his 3 point form doesn’t look bad. He makes 4 of those misses and he’s shooting the same percentage as Saunders did last year. Saunders had a lot of wide open looks and Mag seemed to take some tough shots. Mag isn’t a static player on the offensive end like Saunders. If he’s healthy, I could see him averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds in the MW and that’s not bad when he’d be your 5th scoring option.

As long as you have a few to space the floor you're fine. It's more important to have bucket getters to avoid the long 3-4 min droughts. I'll take a player who can take you off the dribble and score mid-range all day long over a guy who's nothing more than a spot up shooter.

Players leave for different reasons. But many Rutgers fans are not happy with Mag. As best I can gather, Mag has had numerous injuries over the years. In February 2023 he tore his ACL and missed roughly half the 2023-2024 season, had lingering knee pain, then a calf injury to end the season. Fans think he was healthy to play but chose not to. Who knows? rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/mawot-mag-will-enter-the-transfer-portal.275406/[BTW, Rutgers is bringing in a fantastic class including two consensus 5* frosh, and two Rivals 4*. According to Rivals and 247, Rutgers has the highest ranked 2024 class in the nation.]
