Thinking one of the primary reasons SDSU was invited is because of how well the fan base travels, errr shows up to home games in Vegas!

If true, what's in it for them? If you do a little research you will be amazed at what the male heirs are doing in Saudi Arabi… one is specifically focused on sports and media… They are trying to set up a week long, maybe two week event in Las Vegas that will feature significant “upgrades” to what a “normal” MTE would look like… they are going to partner with MGM, with a slice of the hospitality revenue coming back to them, they expect to make money off of the “other” events and eventually will control 24 games over a 7 to 14 day timeline with rabbis fans that will pay $50 to $100 to watch three “premier” games… Maybe SDSU needs to approach the Middle East money and see if there's even a single one that would bankroll... 1. SDSU and it's athletic department and / or 2. A new PAC (that SDSU is part of) where each team gets $70m per year, then we can get the UU, ASU, UA, Calford, UCLA etc to come back to the conference. At this point, a new TV contract could be negotiated and if it comes in at say, $25m, then the financial backer gets to keep these funds and thus its costing him $45m per school per year, which to some of these guys isn't too big a financial hit. If they're really going into sports, which they are for sure doing with LIV, European soccer teams (Man City as an example), this hoops tournament, I would think they'd jump at a chance to "own" a U.S. college conference, even losing money doing it.

Middle East oil rich states/countries have money, but they aren't dumb. Again, what's in it for them. A deal with a foreign sovereign country and/or with their money may be subject to "National Security" risks and subject to the review of the State Dept. Do you have an Export License for that?

I just read an article on one of these Saudi cats becoming the first human trillionaire. They have money to burn and this event is probably less than one hour of interest on their investments. It does seem to be like a billionaire building a stadium. Well known, they are most likely never going to make money on it. However, all of the surrounding land opps and investments will pay them 10x the money. They make a huge positive investment overall with the understanding the stadium was never going to be profitable. But then they do get to write off the loses against everything else and come out smelling pretty. It's called sportwashing. Just as they're doing with LIV golf.

We can thank god that effing Hair Thompson is gone. He likely would have forced us to split the $1 million payoff 10 ways.

Hair would have sent most of the $$$$$ to bsu, with the balance going to fund the income which Chad Bunn may have lost from less duties in the booth.

A million dollars is nice, but it's a drop in the bucket. Need a whole lot more in this new climate to be competitive at the top of the market. That said, in Dutch we trust. Can I have 5 minutes to be happy before getting the first Debbie Downer comment? nope! not on this antique message board.

I think the REAL value here is that we are included amongst the "elite". To me, this means as much as the money, because every little step we take that indicates the media and the "snobs" recognizing and "allowing" us in their shows indicating that we "belong". then it is already "money in the bank". Huge step in my view. A lot of quoty marks there. The last two Tourney runs got the Tourney Organizers attention. The fact the Aztecs travel well, especially to Vegas, was the clincher. I may travel to this Tourney as opposed to a game here in Logan or Boise.

Lol, foreign money already bank rolls our universities. China, Saudi Arabia Qatar, for example. Heck, China paid for the university of Pennsylvania Biden center.

what T's will SDSU be dropping from its normal rotation will the NIL to NIL T's allow team to repeat playing in it for multiple years ? The only MTE that matters to Dutch is Maui, but we are guaranteed three full years of three high quality games… with an amazing payout… SDSU is willing to sign another multi year deal as we move forward… event organizers wanted three years to get up and running, but wanted the ability to not offer a spot if a program goes in the tank… This MTE could be the destination for the next decade.

what T's will SDSU be dropping from its normal rotation will the NIL to NIL T's allow team to repeat playing in it for multiple years ?As reported in several of the articles about this NIL tournament, the NCAA rule against playing in the same tournament more often than once every 4 years is still in effect. The Players Era promoters are planning to get around this rule by breaking up their tournament into several smaller tournaments in different Las Vegas locations so they can bring back the same teams for multiple years.

nope! not on this antique message board. The technology, posters or both? I remember, vaguely, when I was vintage. Currently I'm clearly antique. By this time next year I'll be undeniably ancient. sigh

Hearing that this years event will be two four team events with an “on campus” game as the third game in the event, obviously the team that comes to Viejas doesn’t go to Vegas
