It's a million f'n dollars! Is it the whole pie? Nope. Does your pie get bigger with a million dollars plus opportunities for your players to make long-term money? Hell yeah Why on earth would you be a Debbie downer over a million f'n dollars? It was a factual statement based on the college basketball landscape. No need to be in an uproar. Not everything is tied to emotion. It's a cool opportunity, obviously. I have no fear that the Aztecs are going to be unable to adapt. Did the Aztecs even have a million this year?

All I was saying is your marquee players (and even your players below that elite tier) are going to be paid $500K and beyond by high major schools with bigger funds. The Aztecs will be fine, like I said. Dutcher knows what he's doing and gets the guys who want to be here, not ones that have to be bought.

Prior to this tournament, the budget for next year was $1.5m. A minimum of $1m for the tourney is a big deal, especially since we're locked in for a few years.

A million dollars is nice, but it's a drop in the bucket. Need a whole lot more in this new climate to be competitive at the top of the market. That said, in Dutch we trust. First of all, it's not $1,000,000 budget, it's a $2,000,000 one with this new money added in. And $2,000,000 isn't a drop in the bucket, it's enough multiple drops to cover the bottom of the bucket. With the matching thing it could be another maybe $400k. $2.4 mil is something we could really work with.

Can we buy this kid now? SF Jaylen Wells, Washington State Jaylen Wells is a 6-foot-8/205-pound junior originally from California. The wing forward averaged 12.6 points and 4.6 rebounds this season while shooting 41.7 percent from three. Wells started his college career at Division 2 Sonoma State. He is going through the NBA Draft process. I don't foresee us using NIL in this manner. I see a tiered structure based on seniority and/or performance. Perhaps there will be small signing bonuses, but I doubt that we will be shelling out 500k for a player out of the transfer market. Just creates resentment on the team. Better to have a big transfer or a talented returning player get 150k vs. freshmen getting 75k, that sort of thing.

This is also something the fans need to really get behind and have a serious showing of support at the tournament. The Aztecs fans need to show up and be loud, showing that this team Travels and needs to be involved year after year. Go Aztecs!

Yeah...that million ain't a drop in the bucket. Unless that drop is steroids and the bucket is a vein

interesting that teams playing in 2024 tournament are signing three year contracts to also appear in 2025 and 2026 tournament. This is the key. Itās not just a one year deal. It would expand to 12 next season with no doubt a few blue bloods joining. This is huge and they plan to skirt the rule that a team canāt play the same event in back to back years. The organizers would host separate events at the same time in Vegas and move the teams around. This is a Saudi backed event same as Liv Golf where itās just an endless flow of money. Fans canāt underestimate what a monumental deal this is for SDSU hoops.

With the inclusion of the "Bluebloods" doubt the rule lasts!!

A million dollars is nice, but it's a drop in the bucket. Need a whole lot more in this new climate to be competitive at the top of the market. That said, in Dutch we trust. $1 mil /15 players = $67k per kid. Or, a graduated rate based on merit. Either way, that's a nice chunk of change added onto whatever next years NIL will be. I'm thinking just South of $100k ? While not in the stratosphere of the Blue Bloods, it positions the Basketball program in a better spot. Certainly more up to par with our MW rivals.

I think the REAL value here is that we are included amongst the "elite". To me, this means as much as the money, because every little step we take that indicates the media and the "snobs" recognizing and "allowing" us in their shows indicating that we "belong". then it is already "money in the bank". Huge step in my view. A lot of quoty marks there.

I just read an article on one of these Saudi cats becoming the first human trillionaire. They have money to burn and this event is probably less than one hour of interest on their investments.
It does seem to be like a billionaire building a stadium. Well known, they are most likely never going to make money on it. However, all of the surrounding land opps and investments will pay them 10x the money. They make a huge positive investment overall with the understanding the stadium was never going to be profitable. But then they do get to write off the loses against everything else and come out smelling pretty.
