Parrish deleted his tweet. Embarrassing. What did he say?? Whining cause working class fans aren’t paying enough for him to stick around. He’s a real a$$hole.

Parrish deleted his tweet. Embarrassing. What did he say?? essentially it said: Instead of whining, you all should be supporting the Mesa Foundation, and if you think that we are offering players AVG of what others are offering in the NIL, think again. Lastly, he said that college kids shouldnt have to deal with randoms on the internet telling them what is best for them etc.

This is the same argument as "I buy a ticket, I deserve to be a jerk." It's just not true. Buying a ticket is different than paying a salary. They are asking fans to pay salaries. But I agree with the ticket because that just went towards the athletic program and not someone’s car. It really doesn't matter.

Honestly, after today I’m thinking of cancelling my Mesa donations. What’s the point? Just so I can be criticized by ungrateful a$$holes like Parrish? The reality is that our NIL is going nowhere if it’s just funded through small donations from working class fans. Without multi-millionaire/billionaire donors or corporations spending we will never compete nationally. At least my own family won’t talk down to me for not spending enough on them.

Maybe if Parrish had shot better than 10-44 from three over his last 10 games, he wouldn't have gotten so much criticism.
When players are getting scholarships AND $$, the days of everyone getting a juice box and a trophy are over Micah.

Can I go back to what I said before - The Less said by the athletes and the fans the better off we all are
Fans sometimes Boo Professional athletes - can you imagine what could start to happen now when the NIL money is made even more public ?

Cringeworthy post. But he's still young and dumb, I'm sure (or I hope) he'll look back and cringe at saying that for a while

Paid to lose? Not referring to anyone specific, just thinking some guys leaving top 25 programs are taking a payday from teams less likely to make the tournament. Says something about their priorities. Schools losing guys like that, it's addition by subtraction.
Go Aztecs.

What's interesting to me is that in the last year or so, Micah Parrish has only publicly praised teammates four times. Those four times were:
* Elijah announcing he's transferring * Butler announcing he's transferring * Compton announcing he's joining SDSU (and this didn't actually have a praise, it was just a retweet without comment) * Keshad announcing he's signed with Arizona
It sucks that he had to see all that toxicity on social media. But the only thing he celebrates on his timeline is himself and people leaving SDSU. So I don't think anyone should feel bad for celebrating that he's left.

x.com/immanuelmicah/status/1785057352380817660?s=46&t=h8zZnSXnYzeSB-rXp2A08QHe posted a full thread you can read. Fact of the matter is he’s right. You “passionate” fans who jump on social media/message boards after every game do way more damage than you think. I said that during the season and people said players don’t read/google themselves. I’d say 95% of college kids read everything about themselves. So if you’re getting negativity, you perceive the fans as not loyal; why wouldn’t you jump at a few extra hundred thousand, nicer facilities, and bigger conferences? Now go to mesafoundationsd.org and donate. Nicer facilities? Really? Bigger conferences? SDSU was a hour away from joining the PAC12. Yet still got 6 teams in the tournament. Parrish is reaching right now. He going to be in a rude awakening, when he has a off night at Ohio St. Then he really going to read passionate fans in social media and boards. But he’ll be ok with it because, he getting pay to play.

I use to have the take about not being negative on players. I think that went out the window when fans are now investing in the NIL and now basically paying these players salaries. If it wasn’t for the fan, these players wouldn’t be paid. You should be open to criticism if you are being paid. From here on out these adults will be compensated and reviewed for their performance. Now, I don’t think fans should @players and players who search their own name shouldn’t be surprised what they find. This is the same argument as "I buy a ticket, I deserve to be a jerk." It's just not true. Nope. Buying a ticket for collegiate sports s not paying the player. Big difference. Fans are now literally paying the players. If someone is paying for your services, they have the right to comment.

It's amusing that many on the board want everyone to stop criticizing players because their feeling might get hurt and they'll leave. Are you serious? Don't you realize that kids this age have been dealing with people trashing each other on Social Media for just about their entire lives? Someone saying something on this board doesn't mean squat to these kids. They've been in a narcissistic bubble since they joined their first AAU team and everyone fussed over them. They've been getting tangible and intangible benefits ever since.
Parrish is probably a "good kid" but also a spoiled, entitled brat who doesn't have the guts to say why he really left.

It is part of the system now and smart athletes will simply announce their decision on a new school they are going to attend . Some guys are going to feel they are entitled to not only get the money but ad comments to fans who pay to watch them get angry as they leave same as free agency for Pros
did notice that Mahaney selected UCONN - and his comment - he chose to go to a school that has won Championships ( not sure what else he may have said but he did leave the college very close to his home town
will be interesting to see how the top schools players are going to - do have the reputation to keep recruiting even more and sometimes even better players . Could that happen to any of the former Aztecs - who knows but thought Keshad had some similar situation
Know Kentucky is going to keep working the Portal
Do hope Dutcher is able keep moving forward to put together the best team he can
Hate to ask but has Waters made any statements ?

No, they do not. In what way are fans not paying the players. Mesa foundation collects from fans to give to players. Fans buy jersey, player gets his cut, etc. The scholarship is not paid directly by fans (but is likely paid in part by tax payers), but nil is from the fans. I am also shocked parish can earn significantly more elsewhere. His game is mediocre, he whines too much, and his offense is below average. He transferred to a clearly inferior program. Good riddens.

I don't care how you view it, these are still collegiate athletes and public criticism of them (that goes above and beyond, crossing boundaries) is wrong. I don't care how much money you donate to a foundation.

He’s honestly pretty stupid if he thinks Ohio St is more tame than SDSU fans. He’s in for a rude awakening when a 1-7 performance costs them a game. Gonna be hell. Or when he goes O'fer from three point land.
