Didn't Darias get free tickets from Steve Fisher when he was having trouble passing them out on campus? Don't about that, but thought he did mention something about canopies?? That's the real reason behind Lamont Butler's transfer...a lack of canopies

This is gonna be the most mysterious team to gauge in a while...a lot of folks have to step/grow up fast...wonder who the team captain will be. I can't speak for the new guys cause I haven't seen them in person, but as far as returners who are going to grow up and be "the man," my money's on the Byrd Man, can't wait to see him soar next season!

Guys who come here know that they will play defense, or they won't play. Comments in the UT this morning indicate that he is fully on board with the defensive part of coming to State. His offensive skills are obvious.

The Aztec Breakdown was excellent and thorough. His defensive numbers were solid enough. As for the offensive woes, context is key. He was on a bad team (14-19, and 1-10 on the road) with bad guard play, forcing him to create for himself. Hopefully in our offense, where he isn't the main dude, he will be able to produce at an above average rate. In Dutch we trust!

In practice he'll be going up against our own bigs(Heide & Gwath) which should help with his shot selection. Supposedly he's a gym rat so he'll have plenty of time in the JAM center working on his shot. That's really an advantage. Instead of taking turns shooting in the arena they play in, the JAM center has multiple baskets.

I’d like to see Saunders work on his mid range game, pull up jumpers to go with his improved 3 point shots. Also a little more active off def boards.

He says he will graduate by the end of this current semester and be at SDSU for Summer School so he can work with the coaches
Can we also look at the situation - The SDSU staff has tried to reach out to numerous 5's and not many guys have said they are interested in SDSU
There have been a few guys that have visited and Agee said he will enjoy the USC Nil money - Reports that Mady is likely to join CAL
JCJ told the coaches that he Wants to come to SDSU
yes his stats can be looked at in a variety of ways and his competition that he faced in his conference is not exactly top notch . But he wants to come here to try to be a better player - has a decent frame . Seems to have decent hands and footwork . Can shoot FT's / a three if needed decent at rebounding with a frame that should not be pushed around
So would you have taken him or hope for an even better 5 ?
As for Saunders - he seems to relish his three point shot and has not taken advantage of his 95% FT - either with a short jump shot or even better as you point out rebounding and getting second chance points
Have hope for Compton and MG at the 4 also - So could Saunders get some time at the 3 if he can guard opponents 3 ?

He's way more athletic that I had originally assumed. I thought he was mostly going to be a defender. But instead we get a guy that could potentially be an occasional double-double guy who WANTS to become a better defender AND will have about 5 months playing with teammates before the season starts. We're going to be a good ten-deep, even without another wing or guard.
LeDee Bradley Pal DT CBM Parrish Malachi Yanni Feagin
That's an impressive Transfer list from just the past 5 years. Even Gomez and Pulliam had good stretches too.

Sorry if this video has already been posted. It's 11:26 of his highlights. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzVjckRHLtEThe first half is offense: low post moves, 3-pt shots and mid-range jumpers. The next quarter is him passing and the final quarter is him on defense. I'm kind of stunned watching him on offense. He has a quick first step, can comfortably dribble the ball up court, shoots really well around the basket, has a smooth, accurate 3-pt shot and passes extremely well. He gets his passes off much quicker and stronger than LeDee although, to be fair, he also doesn't have 2-3 guys draped all over him. But he sees the court very well. His shot-blocking looks good already. On so many of the blocks on here, not only does he block the shot but ends up controlling it afterwards. A number of them are him giving help-side defense. I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm because: Everyone looks great on highlight reels. On his offensive highlights, he was operating usually against a spread-out defense, giving him lots of room to maneuver. When you see the scores during the highlights, Middle Tennessee was almost always behind. So does that mean his direct opponent was scoring a lot? Why wasn't there more P5 interest if he really is that good? Not sure if he's coming here to better his defense or to try to be the next LeDee. If it's mostly the former, I think he'll really improve our team. If it's the latter, we'll end up with teams clogging paint and forcing us to hit threes again, something we're rarely built for. I'd rather see Saunders, Byrd and Compton able to go inside more and take on their guy one-on-one and get to the FT line more. But he's way more advanced than I anticipated. After getting bigs like Diabate, Tomaic, Rooks and Izundu in here and having them end up to be less than average back-ups, I'm actually feeling that JCJ might be something pretty special.

He won’t be in the post, they will run the offense like they did with Yanni at the five and Mitchell at the four… the Aztecs are going to be hard to guard, with both Saunders and JCJ being able to hit the three…
