Hutson can’t recruit. End of story. Odd, I thought he was supposed to have been quite a good recruiter as an assistant at SDSU. Despite this weird episode, I certainly wish him the best of luck. Being an assistant to Acker at LBSU would probably be a great move for him. |

do think there have been at least a few recruits that wanted to follow coach H when he decided to leave SDSU for Fresno and not sure about when he went to a different school

I assume Acker is smarter than hiring someone with a lousy coaching record who launched an unsubstantiated discrimination claim against his former employer on his way out.
I hope Acker does well at Beach.

Hutson can’t recruit. End of story. Hutson played a pivotal part in SDSU's recruiting efforts as the team's recruiting coordinator. He was the point person in recruiting future All-Americans and NBA Draft picks Kawhi Leonard, Jamaal Franklin, and Xavier Thames, while also helping land D.J. Gay, end of story. |

Did Hutson do himself any favors by lawyering-up and claiming to be the victim of racial discrimination at the hands of another Black Man? Or was Hut just making things up to stall his firing that he knew was imminent?
To me it seems an unfounded accusation like that is career suicide, especially when made against another Black man, but then again I'm an old white dude, so what do I know in these weird times?
Would you hire Hut and risk the racial discrimination lawsuit if/when things don't work out? And remember, it was Hut's ex-wife who caused the NCAA/Gary Parish fiasco.

I wouldn’t hire him. There is this lawsuit stuff but also he had a terrible few years at Fresno and we have a much better reputation nationally than we did in 2018. We can do a lot better than him.

Figuring his claim was against another CSU system school, I can’t see either SDSU or Long Beach touching him I just read through the Fresno Bee's take on Hut's accusations and complaints, what a mess. Here's the link, the publisher allows a free click on the link. I assume that he was promised a budget increase and more resources for FSU basketball under the AD who hired him, but a few months later FSU hired a new AD, Terry Tumey, Hut was not his guy and various problems occurred. In the end, a preponderance of evidence did not support Hut's claims, however, the school hired an investigator that could have undermined or tried to create a pretext for Hutson’s termination, or whether they falsely accused the Bulldogs’ former coach of NCAA violations, and, if so, whether race was a factor in doing so. The allegations of NCAA rules violations and other alleged misconduct were investigated for the university by the law firm Bond, Schoeneck & King. But, according to the investigative report, those claims were first reported anonymously to the NCAA, which then alerted Jimenéz-Sandoval and Tumey. None of the NCAA allegations against Hutson came from Tumey or any other athletics administrators. Bond, Schoeneck & King investigated 14 allegations, but none were fully substantiated by the law firm. They have coached against each other and recruited the same kids. Hudson is set. He made 3mil dollars in his time at FSU. He was never going to make that being the lead assistant coach here in the next 10 to 15 years. plus he has 15 plus years in the CAL pers system from his time at CSUB, SDSUX2, and FSU. If he waits a few years he will probably make 60K a year from retirement. But his goal now is to come back and become a lead assistant, expand his knowledge of different offenses, and have better timing. His next job will probably be CSUB once Rod Barnes retires. |
