Per the Fresno newspaper Fresno has been talking with a couple of the Texas Assistant coaches who were also assistants of the previous Coach Terry when he was at Fresno and some other candidates
Most important might be to get a HC and staff so they can work the transfer Portal and HS recruits before they lose out

Ryan Pannone, an assistant coach for the Alabama men's basketball team, emerges as one of the finalists for the head coaching position at Fresno State. Alongside Pannone, Ryan Miller, an assistant coach for Creighton, has also been interviewed for the same vacancy.
Additionally, other notable candidates in contention include Vance Walberg, formerly an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA, who has served as the head men's basketball coach at Pepperdine University and as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts. Successful at Clovis HS & Fresno CC. Tarvish Felton, boasting over 20 years of coaching experience, recently joined UNM after spending four seasons at Fresno State, where he served as associate head coach for the last two years. Another candidate in the mix is Gus Argenal, previously an assistant coach for the Arkansas men's basketball team, who was appointed as the head coach for CSUSB last year.

No need for the HR bullcrap, no one cares if a clearly qualified coach is slightly short of the head coach experience. They aren’t gonna find anyone better for this job.

That should shake up and excite the Transfer Portal players and potential recruits A guy who’s been a high school coach for 8 years and the last time he coached in college (16 years ago) he sucked. Who does that excite?

Have to ask Yoda and also watch the Transfer Portal heading out or in to Fresno - as they put more money into the football program

Dribble drive offense. Everyone runs concepts of this offense. If you have ever heard the phrase, five out. You’ve seen dribble drive offense.
Simply put the offense is initiated by a player driving to the hoop. The idea is to get a layup or kick it out for a 3. Very basic explanation. They are going to need some slashers to make this offense work.

Five out is a little different in that the ball is passed out on the perimeter but essentially get the same results which is a corner 3.

Awful hire. I guess they wanted to go from an defensive minded coach to someone with offense. Thats what we call a lazy hire. FSU needed someone that can fundraise with recent NCAA head coaching experience. The AD had better odds going to Vegas and placing 500K on red on a roulette table. Im hoping this works out for them but this like a Tom Craft/Tony Sanchez type of hire.

You know this hire is Aztec related. Its a little interesting. Tim Shelton played his last year of High School basketball at Clovis West near Fresno. He also played his first three years of basketball with Justin Hutson at Bakersfield High School.

In 2006 he resigned halfway through his 2nd season at Pepperdine, citing "family reasons". At the time he was 14-35 in that year a a half. He's now 67 years old. WTF? But coming from being a high school coach, his new salary probably looks huge.

How is a guy that’s been in high school coaching for 8 years and last coached college 16 years ago gonna adapt to the NIL world and transfer portal? This thing is gonna keep Fresno in the basement for years.
