What Coach Fisher built and what Coach Dutch has elevated is incredible. SDSU fans are so fortunate to be watching this Basketball Program right now. Thinking back to the Sports Arena and Peterson Gym days the current state of the basketball program blows my mind.
Enjoy every minute of it! There are millions of fans that wish they had what we have.

There were numerous lean years for the basketball program and now the fans are getting the opportunity to enjoy some of the good years
First time back to back SW 16 - Major job well done
Crazy to think that some teams have done it for a lot of years
Adding to the challenge the NIL situation and now the no sit transfer for not only first time transfers but also transfers that are doing it multiple times
Going to be a real challenge to do it keep doing it - similar to what the Zags have done

When I was at the MWC Tournament in Vegas a few weeks ago, I was next to UNLV fans & a CSU fan. When I expressed my displeasure for State going into a long scoring drought against UNLV a young UNLV fan spoke to me. He told me that SDSU and Dutcher are the epitome of success in the Conference. That SDSU gets to Championship games and that UNLV has only won one MWC tournament game under Kruger and that it was against Air Force. I told them that I was spoiled being an AZTEC fan and expect Wins. They told me I was Lucky to have a team so good every year. I guess I am. AZTEC4LIFE.

These are the good years. Enjoy them. Miles Byrd, Elijah Saunders, and BJ Davis looked very good today.

That's exactly it The conference teams are built to beat San Diego State. The fans also want their team to beat San Diego State as a measuring stick to show their program has arrived. This took decades of continuous success to get to this level when beating San Diego State is everyone's goal in the MWC. That's the impossible dream Fisher tried to sell when he first arrived Living in Phoenix, I get called a bandwagon fan for wearing Aztec gear by strangers at bars. 😂 I love the fact the Aztecs have a bandwagon.

These are the good years. Enjoy them. Miles Byrd, Elijah Saunders, and BJ Davis looked very good today. Agree about BJ. When he finally got in I told my wife that I really hoped he could score as his shooting numbers were terrible and I think he's a really good shooter. It feels like he's trying so hard when he gets in those last mop-up moments that he isn't himself. Before last night he was 1-13 from the floor, including 1-11 from 3 and 5-7 FT. That's from a kid who was a 50%-40%-90% shooter in high school. His two FTs swished and his moves around the basket for his FG drew raves from the announcing crew. Hope Dutch finds a minute or two for him going forward and that if they do bring in an experienced PG from the portal, Davis stays and fights for the job. I think he could be our Donovan Dent but a better shooter.

I don't know if spoiled is the word, but we are very fortunate to have had Fisher come here and build the program from ashes and Duthcher to step in without missing a beat and even take it up a bit more.
Some players play their entire careers without ever sniffing the tournament and we have a national championship and at a minimum a sweet 16 appearance in back to back years. Think about young players like Byrd and Saunders who are experiencing that their first two years here.

From watching Gwynn, Gaines, and Cage at the Sports Arena (and Foggy's) to these last two years has been and will be an incredible ride. It is even more heartwarming to watch from here in ACC country where hoops are religion.
My kid is also an NC State alum, so 2024 has been a great tournament year, no matter the outcome.
Go Aztecs! Go Pack!
Beat the Huskies! Beat the Golden Eagles!

To go to the National Championship game and back to back Sweet 16's? Incredible. Much love to Coach Fisher, Coach Dutcher and all the fantastic players that have made this happen over the past 20 years.

Which one am I forgetting? Correction X, but not Flynn. That was cancelled.

That was the tourney where we beat New Mexico State and at the post-game presser Fisher took the NCAA to task for the travel schedule New Mexico State would have to endure. Gosh dang, that was TEN years ago. TEN!

On the player side, LeDee is another example of being patient and waiting in order to create a better outcome. I believe we are in good hands for years to come!
