Do you support for president a candidate who has supported Russia, to the point that he called Putin (for the invasion of Ukraine), "Genius?"
Do you support the invitation to Putin and Russia to invade NATO countries who don't spend enough on their national security?
Do you support the incitement to insurrection?
Do you support the attempts to steal a valid election (that even Republican vote counting groups found was accurate)? Fake electors, pressure to, "Find," votes that weren't really there. Do you support that?
Do you support a candidate who has been found in court to be a sexual predator and assaulter (possibly a rapist)? "Grab them by the..."
If Donald Trump had a D next to his name rather than an R, wouldn't you want him in prison, not the White House?
These are the reasons why I left the Republican Party. I have my integrity and ethics and I won't compromise them for a scumbag like Trump, or for a party who kowtows to him.
How about you?

I’ve never been a democrat or republican and never will be. I’ve hoped beyond hope there would be a contending 3rd party. I joined The Green, but that proved to be a disaster, since I’ve been independent. I’m not sure at this point who I will vote for, but I can say with 100% certainty it won’t be for Biden. I regard him as an idiot and a fool. Well at best a quockerwodger.

Reagan must be rolling over in his grave as his party has been taken over by authoritarians who support a monster like Putin. You may not identify as a Republican, but your politics lean that way. I can't see how any Republican who understood that the Soviet Union really was the Evil Empire can support a man who is helping Putin rebuild that empire. I mean, INVITING PUTIN TO INVADE NATO COUNTRIES AND DO WHATEVER THE HELL HE WANTS?? That's treason. That's insanity. Voting for Trump is almost literally voting for Putin. How can any Republican do that?

Because of the beauty of our system, there were always opposing lifestyles and schools of thought. In the 60's, 70's etc. there were hippies, rednecks, fundamentalists, Buddhists, athiests, Democrats, Republicans, gun nuts, gun haters, and on and on. Starting in the mid 80's, media types figured out that there was a lot of money to be made by shoving opposing schools of thought in each others faces. This was put on steroids through the development of the Internet and digital outreach. Politics is the master of it. Of course certain issues have become more obvious just due to our exploding population and resource utilization. The signs of the oceans getting decimated really became obvious in the early 1980's. In todays world, there are virtually no groupers and conchs to be found in the Bahamas. Bali restaurants rarely offer fresh fish anymore. My Danish friends sister is a marine biologist in Denmark. There, she just ran a benthic survey in one of the major fjords...and found one flounder! Look around, and its pretty darn obvious that carrying capacity and critical mass has been passed quite a few years ago. The Earth, nature and the environment will make sure that our population decreases, if not all of it. It's happened many many times in history on a smaller scale. The tensions and hate of today lead to one thing. But it's no different than a virus in the sea lion population or an avian flu. Historically man's population decreases 3 ways, war, disease and resource over exploitation. The most intelligent creature to ever live is not smart enough to avoid the ultimate downfall.

I do think it's telling that most of the Republicans on this board don't want to touch this subject - because they know just how bad Trump is, and because, deep down, they know a vote for Trump is also a vote for Putin.

You don't get it. I don't know who I'll vote for but I did previously say I'll never vote for Biden. Big Bad Putin is a nothing compared to what the anti-American Biden is doing. The man is a disgrace.

And he murders his political opponents and critics. You may not like Biden's policies, but he's not out to murder people.

OK, I'd like any Trump supporter to rationalize their support of Trump given his support of Putin, and explain to me how this isn't just unacceptable, but frightening. Trump is clearly a huge risk to our national security. Ronald Reagan would absolutely NOT vote for Donald Trump. Reagan knew what kind of a threat Russia was under people like Putin (and, let's face it, Putin is worse than any Russian/Soviet leader since Stalin). Reagan called them the Evil Empire for a reason. Putin has been working to rebuild that empire bit by bit.

And the point is - if Ronald Reagan, the iconic Republican President, would not support or vote for Trump (and he absolutely would not) then why are the people who hold him in such reverence planning on voting for Trump?

He really shouldn't be anyone's hero. Iconic? And it's simple: We live in a void where facts don't really matter to a segment of the population. You can convince a lot of people of things just by using hubris.

He really shouldn't be anyone's hero. Iconic? That's like saying that JFK shouldn't be anyone's political hero or considered iconic. Just because you're on one side of the political spectrum doens't negate the feelings and opinions of those on the other side. You can't tell them who is or isn't worthy of being a political icon anymore than they can tell you the same thing. But people on the same side can tell each other when they're wrong, and having been a registered republican for 35 years I can tell Republicans that they are flat wrong for supporting and voting for Trump. He is dangerous and destructive. I left the party because of him, and I haven't looked back as the party has been consumed by his mentality. Trump is bad for the party and worse for the country.

trump would have been executed during the Reagan era for enabling putin against our intelligence agencies. He certainly would have been executed during the height of the cold war in the 60's. Because of 2 guys, trump and carlson, the Republicans do a 180 on Russia. Proof that the magas are incapable of critical thought!
