The only way for UNM to get in was the way they did. So that makes six. UNM will play in for the 11 seed.

I don't believe so Junior. I believe all major and mid major auto bids don't play in. I can't recall any auto bid having to play in. Only the minor conferences do and have for quite some time. It use to be only 1 play in, now they have 2, after the NCAA expanded to 4 games, they included 2 for the major/midmajor conferences. It was a money deal for the majors/midmajors.

UNM will be a 9 or 10 and will be in the field if 64, they will not be in Dayton for the first 4.

I would not be surprised to see the MWC get a 5 through 10. But it will possibly be better.

The difficulty of the MW is the elevation and travel. Those won’t be issues in the tournament. State does well because they win in spite of those challenges. Reno 4505 elevation but easy travel ABQ 5312 elevation but easy travel BSU 2695 elevation but easy travel USU 4534 elevation and terrible travel CSU 5003 elevation and terrible travel altitudecentre.com/altitude101/They will lose their advantage in the tournament unless they get slotted in SLC. We shall see. You left out Laramie and Colorado Springs. Isn't CSU an easy trip ? Direct flights to Denver. Hotel in Denver. One hour bus ride to Moby Arena. I remember hearing the OG beat writers talk about the mid-winter roadie to CSU/Wyoming. They would fly into Denver. Hotel there for three nights and bus to both Arenas for the games. Brutal. Pretty sure he was just commenting on tourney teams which is why Laramie was excluded. As for the regular season champ getting in, didn't the the Aztecs win the regular season losing 2 conference games and not get a bid a few years back? |

With the PAC 12 going away, we get 6 bids. Colorado should be most worried after losing to Oregon.

The final bracket matrix has all 6 mountain west teams in all 92 of the 92 brackets. They have UNM as the top #10 seed, CSU as the top #9 seed, Boise St. as the top #8 seed, Nevada as the second #7, Utah St. as the fourth #6 and SDSU as the third #5. Keep in mind that Lunardi is one is the least accurate bracketologists. He is 98th out of 174, Jerry Palm from CBS is even worse. Take what they say with some caution.
