Anybody know what time the New Mexico-Colorado State game got over with last night? Hard to believe that the Lobos won't have some dead legs but they play at one of the fastest paces in D-1 so they might still be ok, even with 4 games in 4 days. ESPN lists the tipoff at 8:59 pm. AP filed their game recap wire story at 12:18 am.

It was over around 11pm. Probably well after midnight by the time they were back at their hotel. Sure a few were probably hungry, so add time for a snack. Adrenaline would make sleep hard. None of that will matter today…for most of them. But the shots may fall shorter as they get deeper into the game today, and sloppiness will be the result. Both teams will be affected to some extent, but hopefully less for the fresher team.

Yes four games in four days is tough, but New Mexico is highly motivated to win this thing, and they have a fan base to back them up. We will be playing 3 in 3 so it's not like we are fresh! Will be another tough game.

The 3:00pm Saturday Championship games always seem to be a rock fight: low scores, more TOs, low shooting %s etc It's usually a terrible show for the MWC on national TV and I always wonder whether it unconsciously affects the Selection committee's seeding.
Last 5 Championship game scores: 62-57 53-52 68-57 59-56 64-57
I think this might be only the 2nd time a team will be playing for the 4th time in 4 days. Seems like Wyoming did this a few years ago but I might be wrong. Hope those Lobo legs are tired.

Maybe the worst form I’ve ever seen. Ever. I don’t get it No maybe. It is the worst I have ever seen at collegiate level. Far worse than Skylar’s shot put or Josh Davis slow-mo. Johnson has not even had one close. Davis’ worst shots missed by more, but he could make some. I am not sure if DJ shot 10 more that I would expect him to make any. There is no way he can get that shot off in a game. He is lucky just to draw iron???

You mean all we have to do is shoot well and we win by double digits? I say we stick to that plan. That’s what so frustrating so often. When we play well, smart, take and make good shots, our upside is huge … like top 5 good. We proved that last season. We are usually our own worst enemy on O. For tomorrow… lather, rinse, repeat I really do think it is more a matter of just making the open look and finishing at the rim than playing smart/well. If we can just shoot "normal" we are tough to beat. If we shoot "well", then we can make a run in the big dance. Last night we shot relatively "normal" fg 45% / 3pt 35% and ft 67% and we ran away with the game. Another factor that didn't come up because we dominated is rebounding. We need to continue to rebound well. Go Aztecs!

I think it’s the first time a team has made it to the championship from the first round in the men’s tournament (four games in four days). The Aztecs were in all five of those games you listed, which certainly helps keep the scores low. It’s to SDSU’s benefit this year, but it’s borderline criminal that the MW/CBS make the semifinal tip-off so late on Friday with a 3pm game on Saturday. Bit of a sham and something I’d quite like to see Dutcher call out, a la Fisher ripping the NCAA after SDSU beat New Mexico State in the national tournament back in 2014.

I did say earlier in another thread that any of the top 7 teams could win the tournament this year. It's going to be the 5th place team against either the 6th or 7th place team. Did you notice the list of teams that finished 1st in their conference who had already lost in their conference tournament? It was a surprisingly long list.
I did see that list. I tend to be a bit of a pessimist. I didn't think we would be in the title game this year. I'm glad that we are. The way they stumbled into the Tourney, I figured we would be lucky to win one game. Apparently, the Tecs we're waiting for the post season before they laced up their sneakers. The guard play has been at Championship caliber the last two games. Eight assists and 26 points from Trammell and Butler last night. I couldn't believe my eyes down the stretch. They actually made free throws and got some defensive rebounds when it mattered the most.

Having that extra day off might help the players, but would hurt the fans. You'd lose that Friday night crowd like the one that was there last night. Fans would have to pay for another night in a hotel and if they went to all the games would have to take off another day from work. Most importantly TV likely would never allow it.

Nobody should be trippin anymore when we're down early. Lol. For sure. No one seems to give the staff credit for their half time adjustments.

Right—I can’t imagine anything would change, but I grow tired of the sport coming second to the money. It’s gross all the time (see “8:00,” but really 8:10, tip offs on Tuesday nights, or the odd 9pm game mountain time) but a game that had zero chance of tipping before 9PM pacific with a game at 3pm pacific the next day is patently absurd.

This did not age well. Games are at least 40 minutes. Thank you for this. I’m sure your confidence was sky high when we were down 17 and missing everything for the fifth straight game. Are you making your rounds to show everyone what an eternal optimist you are and that you knew this was coming the whole time? What can I say, you’re a sage. I had not thrown in the towel. I had seen them come back from large deficits this season (CSU) and in previous seasons (NMU for MWC title). I would not say confident, cautiously optimistic.. you threw in the towel. We won. That is premature giving up; the evidence is clear. Trying to defend it. Do you think that throwing in the towel on a win is defendable?

I was upset and posted a comment out of frustration. I continued to watch the entire game and was ecstatic when we won. You on the other hand, took the time to back and correct multiple people on what they said during the game. This tells me all I need to know about you. It’s pathetic. You sir, are a jer$off.

It did not age well. My comment was factual. > The New Mexico game was 10 years ago, Unlike your comment, this comeback ages well even 10 years later. I note you did not answer if giving up was defendable but seeing you are trying to defend it I guess your actions answer the question. > You on the other hand, took the time to back and correct multiple people on what they said during the game. I do not remember correcting anyone. I remember someone indicating they were wishing for something and stating they got their wish. > You sir, are a jer$off. Now you resort to name calling. That speaks volumes. Lol

You get called out on your statement and try to defend it. Blame me for what? Your statement? Calling you out on your statement? What I really think is happening is you are embarrassed by your statement and trying to find fault elsewhere. People make emotional statements. It happens. But normally the statements are owned. The person making the statement does not usually try to attack someone else for their statement. Your reaction is hilarious. lol. Have a good day. Go Aztecs

Go Aztecs You’re telling someone they’re dumb in the same sentence that you’re admonishing name calling. Quite ironic. I said it was an emotional statement three posts ago. There are about twenty of these types of posts during every single game thread. Why would what I posted on an anonymous board make me embarrassed? Do you really think I don’t know that teams come back from large deficits in basketball games? Is it your job to go back and address/correct these types of statements? Does it make you feel better? Is your fandom just at a higher level than mine? Why do you care? This is what bothers me Sir.
