My dad would have turned 79 today. I was hoping for a bit of positivity from the Friars today, but...not so much.

The Padres get within 1 in the 8th, and promptly give it all back in the bottom of the inning.

It's really difficult to be a Padres fan, to say the least.

For all of the insane amount of money this team spends it certainly isn’t translating into wins. It has been a year and a half of mediocre baseball. I’m sorry to say it, but there are some chemistry issues.

Cease and Estrada both Shildt the mound today. Fine work.
Nexxxxxxxxxt!
Team is an ongoing embarrassment to itself … and this time they're swept by the Mets - yet another sub-.500 team.

3-12 vs. Marlins, Mets, Angels and Rockies. Enough said.

3-12 vs. Marlins, Mets, Angels and Rockies. Enough said. Why are we so abysmal against lefties though?

Instead of yanking Spazquez' AZZZZZtecs after he starts getting pounded, Niebla leaves him in to serve up a 3 run HR. Offense sucks again. Starter sucks again. BP no better. 17 base hits by Philly - and they are still barreling up. Game over. They could very easily be facing another sweep. Being forced to use marginal starters constantly kills any momentum they might gain.

BoMel haters awfully quiet these days...it's almost like he is a good manager and the Padres' organization has deeper issues?

BoMel haters awfully quiet these days...it's almost like he is a good manager and the Padres' organization has deeper issues? Two weeks ago, he was complaining in San Francisco about how hard it was to win games. He's a good manager, but wasn't good here. Too passive, too player-friendly.

Agreed - unfortunately nothing's changed under Shildt.

Tatis sitting out for the first time all season, has a quad issue but could still play. Kim out for the 2nd time this season. I don't have much faith they'll win either of these next two with Nola and Ranger going for the Phillies.

Hope the bullpen has enough gas in the tank to hang onto this lead.

I would have bet that Matsui would walk the leadoff man. So glad he got yanked after that K. Schwarber scares the hell out of me.
