So...would you say that MLB has shot themselves in the foot regarding player development after their restructuring of the minor leagues? MLB doesn't give a rat's ass about player development. Shortening the draft by 20 rounds, cutting numerous minor league franchises (taking away many, many jobs in small communities where baseball was a large part of the income) and colluding to not spend money is all about ownership bottom line, nothing more. Post-COVID, we are in a different landscape. Maybe a hellscape.

I don't think the Padres are "bucking" anything, as they are in the top 10 in MLB in home runs. Amazingly, the Padres are 4th in home runs at home, but 2nd to last in road home runs. And in just a quick glance, I can't find the stat, but a more telling statistic would be how many HR's have the Padres hit with the bases empty versus with runners on. Bases empty home runs are a continuation of last year, unfortunately.

Nice to see Sean Manaea give it to these chumps. Horrible offense theater again. They just can't help themselves. Waldron gives up two runs - two - and still loses. Not a good way to start a trip.

Seven starts in a row for Waldron with two runs or less allowed.

Mazur--4 BB's in 2 innings. Not a great start.

Without Profar, this would be the worst offense against lefties in the league by a substantial margin. Second best in that split last year.

6 BB's through 3 innings. 67 pitches. He'll be lucky to go 5 innings at this rate. They should be stirring in the bullpen soon.

De Los Santos fooling no one in the 7th.

Why is everyone talking about the pitching? The offense has one run and has done absolutely nothing.

Just popped in to rat out the chumps with the bats. Two hits - one of them a HR - ain't gonna win many games. These clowns are just incapable of maintaining any kind of consistency in their ABs besides their glaring inability to hit left-handed pitching.… teams will keep throwing lefties at the Padres when they want to win ballgames.

De Los Santos fooling no one in the 7th. De los Suckos doing what he does best…giving away home runs in relief. With the Padres renewing their inability to score runs, it is a disastrous combination. Not someone who needs to be in there unless it's mop up time. Certainly not when a game is still on the line. As it turns out, the game was already over before he came in. Arsonist Beef Burrito Supreme saw to that.

Cease ain't got it today. 4-1, bottom of the first, and he just got his first out.
Mets should sweep since these pathetic Padres can't hit, so they won't get back in it - even if there is still plenty of game left to try to win it.
Meanwhile, Seth Lugo wins his 10th game of the season last night.
… maybe they'll find another starter before the deadline. And maybe someone who can hit left-handed pitching.
Maybe. They're a week from mid-season. They are what they are.

And the extra point is good!
3 base hits so far. This team can really suck.
Happy Padres Day!
