Speaking of slumbers right now, Junior is really swiping through just about anything that looks like a baseball coming his direction … he's not making great swing decisions. I literally tweeted the same thing after the first. Just missing it right now and then expanding with two strikes. |

Musgrove is much, much sharper today. Curveball shape looks much more defined, better sequencing and location.

TG, Jr is talking about this right now. Regression to the mean is a good conjecture, so we'll just need to see how well Merrill can adjust to what he's seeing from pitching now. As TG says, the pitchers are testing him now. His focus get pushed now that he's slumping a little - will he swipe at a certain pitch or find a way to get to it, or just ignore it. Want to avoid the case where a pitcher knows that they can throw that one pitch that "he can't hit, but he can't lay off …"He's hit the ball hard at times, right at people, or someone makes a good play on it, during this O'fer stretch. But yeah, natural regression and maybe pitchers finding a weakness. He has such a good swing, that I'm not too worried about him. |
