You love to use the word diminish, yet I'm just using statistics. For EVERYTHING. Lol. Because that's what relevant and provable. Not pie in the sky, myopic stuff like "inspiration." We have no idea who is inspired, we're just guessing. That's where the numbers come in and actually tell you.

You love to use the word diminish, yet I'm just using statistics. Kind of weird that you are picking out the fact that Ohtani is 5-22 and sub .800 OPS in a few games. Ohtani is a generational talent, who has a spectacular season statistically, yet you are choosing to focus on 22 AB's? Sounds more like you are just arguing to argue. Exactly.

Because we're talking about the playoffs? The regular season is irrelevant at this point. Seems pretty cut and dry. Again, he affects more than just his at bats. This has spoken about by SDSUBALL and myself. You're picking and choosing the stats that you want to fit your argument, again. Not happening. His teammates are inspired by more than what he does in the playoffs. Sheesh.

I said specifically after game one of the Padre series, when Cease fed him a mistake pitch, the Padres shut him down. That's a true statement. I'll leave the fodder for you.

That's what you like to tell yourself. Ask Freeman, for just one example. He said that he watches Ohtani in amazement. Yeah, Ohtani inspires his teammates. You're about the only one that would say otherwise, because it doesn't fit your theme. Like SDSUBALL says, arguing just to argue for the sake of an argument with a baseless argument.

Regarding the ALCS--has Clase's arm fallen off yet?

I'm not arguing he doesn't "inspire" someone, I'm saying it means very little in terms of things that actually can be stated and contextualized.

Well, your actions show differently since you mocked it in one of your recent posts today, but whatever. By the way, that very little that you're talking about goes a long way. You would have had to be in a dugout at some point in your life to understand it I guess in your case, because its very obvious that he can rub off on you, so to speak, very easily. It's a real thing.

It's a real thing. No, definitely don't need to be in a dugout, I've had more than enough experience with actual, real-life situations. I just don't think it plays that big of a role in a playoff series. What does? Variance.

No. If that were the case, the Phillies would likely be still around. What have you done for me lately is all that matters in the playoffs. It's why you see so much randomness.

Then why have you talked about how the Padres have owned Ohtani in the regular season, and how going into the Padres series against the Dodgers you used regular season stats? You can't have it both ways. Sounds hypocritical.

The Padres shut Ohtani down in the regular season and the playoffs.

Okay, so stop attributing the results of one player to much more then randomness then in the playoff context...

There IS going to be variance in smaller sample sizes. I'm over the Ohtani discussion, though.

You said regular season stats aren't relevant, and then you used regular season stats to predict what will happen in the playoffs, and now you're saying regular season stats don't mean anything in the playoffs. I'm so dizzy from the spin, my head hurts. Sheesh.

Regular season stats IN THE PLAYOFFS mean nothing. BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS START, what else would you use? Move on.
