I am going to argue right here, that the single greatest achievement (and most difficult) of any San Diego sports team in history...was the Aztecs playing for the National Championship in hoops. One hell of an achievement. UConn has stood between at least one, if not two, NCAA championships for our AZZZTECS. That Kawhi team was something special.

Preller is UNDER .500 over TEN DAMN years. That is a LOSER. This lazy argument again? Lazy? Why would you need an ebullient, convoluted or Byzantine explanation of Preller's Follies? By every definition, not held by Preller, he's a loser. Tonight will likely be his last.

Biggest issues were Manny, Bogaerts and Croneworth NOT providing any kind of support. Manny- Sure seems like he has aged in the last couple years, looking like he is just picking up a paycheck these days (32 yrs old, 9 more at over 35mil per year) Bogaerts- Aging in front of our eyes (32yrs old, 9 more years at over 25mill/per year ) Cronenworth - Swing for a 6 run homer every at bat, has dropped off since signing his contract . Overall really good year, just came up short and bats just dropped off at the wrong time. Hard to say what would have been if Musgrove didn't get hurt but that baseball. Thank You San Diego Padres for a great season. When is spring training? Let's Go Aztecs! Don't forget Profar. He stunk, as well. Profar was an illusion. I never wanted him here.

Reasons for the pessimism in July: No ownership situation resolved and a declining payroll with holes to fill in 2025. Reasons for optimism now: King and Cease under contract next season, King made the leap to a full-fledged starter. Merrill looks like a future star. Tatis is finally back on a field, finally healthy and produced in the playoffs. Next year is still going to be complicated, which is why I said what I did in JULY. The current payroll is somewhere in the neighborhood of $230M. Team needs a REAL 1st baseman Well, Arraez isn't going anywhere.

I'd be floored if he was fired. Floored. YOU could be right my friend. The Padres, and the erstwhile Loser-Chargers have both had a tendency towards loser management. And with the passing of Peter Seidler, the Padres will likely sink to their prior loser mentality. HE wanted to win it all. We haven't had that since Ray Croc. Now---in my opinion---the Padres will return to chasing the Mendoza Line.

It wasn't so much about missing Musgrove. Our bats just went silent for over 20 innings. That'll do it, no matter who's on the mound. Darvish pitched great today. I think Musgrove could have MAYBE prevented that blowout in game 4, that really f-ed with their heads but that's baseball. Since we were shutout that game, it wouldn't have mattered if he pitched well, or not. Getting shut out that game effed with their heads.

Hopefully Peralta comes back next year, he's a solid bat and a lefty. It will be interesting to see what Profar can get contract wise. Probably is gone, but who knows, maybe Preller can do an incentive laden contract. Kim, there's no way he comes back.
Eguy Rosario deserves playing time at the major league level - over Solano. For that reason, I'm not sure that you bring Solano back. If you bring Solano back, you do it on a cheap one year deal.
Machado and Bogaerts have to do more. They are getting paid way to much to perform like that.

The padres also do not know how to develop talent either. Look back at the padres and see how many have come up thru the farm system and added anything to the padres major team. 1) Jackson Merrell 2) 3) 4) . . . .

Guys like Reginald Preciado, Owen Caissie, Victor Acosta, Blake Hunt, Cole Wilcox and dozens of others that have brought in King, Cease, Snell, Darvish, Soto, Arraez, etc.

Wait, I'm going to be on the Padres roster next year??? Apparently, they can't afford to sign you.

Wait, I'm going to be on the Padres roster next year??? Apparently, they can't afford to sign you. Well, I was planning on hiring Scott Boras to be my agent to maximize my contract, and we know how the Padres love Boras.

Tonight will likely be his last. I am not a Preller fan. But he was responsible for putting this team together, and should at least be able to finish out his current contract.

Preller hasn’t seen a player that shouldn’t be traded. It’s an addiction. It’s not his “fault”
