My give a $#!+ about MLB is gone again. Every time I start to think things are getting better I see the big market teams contending yet again, and the Padres ending their season with yet more disappointment. Isn't it shocking that the Dodgers and Yankees are in the two LCS? The Padres came into this series with as good a lineup and bullpen and much better starting pitching. They didn't lose because of $ they lost because they choked. How else to explain getting shut out the last 24 innings? The Dodger bullpen is good but nowhere near that good. Ding. Ding. Ding.

I thought you said we're in trouble next year if we don't sell this year? Details, details More like...time, time, time.

It changed since since you made that statement? Yes...considering I made that statement months ago. What changed?

I thought you said we're in trouble next year if we don't sell this year? Details, details Ha!!! I hear ya. He was so adamant about how much trouble the Padres are going to be in if they don't sell at the All Star Break. Now he's saying things have changed. Uh, ok.

And 4 of those teams don't spend money like the Padres have in recent years. They also aren't drawing 40k plus per game like the Padres are. I don't think it will be too much longer before that list of 5 teams is reduced to 4. Which team do you think will win the WS? Because it ain't gonna be the Pads. The San Diego Curse is eternal. Get it all out. Maybe you will feel better. Damn--I forgot to answer your question. Since the Padres lost tonight, it won't be the Padres. This year.

I realize complex concepts are difficult, but they are reliant on circumstances and information available at the time and subject to change. When I made that statement (three months ago or longer?), Kutsenda was the interim point person and he was never expected to stay beyond this season, with ownership futures in doubt. That situation has changed.

Well, at least for now, the Padres bandwagon has its tires flattened, its springs shot, and will limp home on the back of a flatbed tow truck.
Then we'll have to listen to all of their excuses.
They flat out got stomped. For all of the preening and posing, all of the AJ Preller trades, all of the second half miracles, at the end of the season, they've watching the winners drive past while sitting in the breakdown lane. As always.
Now we can focus on more important topics like:
Who should stay and who should go …

And we'll be having the same conversation here next year as well - another Padres season with a far less than satisfying ending.

Biggest issues were Manny, Bogaerts and Croneworth NOT providing any kind of support. Manny- Sure seems like he has aged in the last couple years, looking like he is just picking up a paycheck these days (32 yrs old, 9 more at over 35mil per year) Bogaerts- Aging in front of our eyes (32yrs old, 9 more years at over 25mill/per year ) Cronenworth - Swing for a 6 run homer every at bat, has dropped off since signing his contract . Overall really good year, just came up short and bats just dropped off at the wrong time. Hard to say what would have been if Musgrove didn't get hurt but that's baseball. Thank You San Diego Padres for a great season. When is spring training? Let's Go Aztecs!

That'll do it, no matter who's on the mound. Darvish pitched great today.

Reasons for the pessimism in July: No ownership situation resolved and a declining payroll with holes to fill in 2025.
Reasons for optimism now: King and Cease under contract next season, King made the leap to a full-fledged starter. Merrill looks like a future star. Tatis is finally back on a field, finally healthy and produced in the playoffs.
Next year is still going to be complicated, which is why I said what I did in JULY. The current payroll is somewhere in the neighborhood of $230M.

A bunch of balls that were just missed. That being said, the body language was bad.
