Well, at least at 2–0, they no longer have a chance in hell.

World series is only one that counts...for most cities. They won the World Series.

SD teams have been embarrassed both WS and the super bowl.. To be fair to the Chargers - the 49ers cheated on the salary cap that year, so they had a couple players that they shouldn't have. That made them a better team than they should have been. Was that the difference? Maybe not, but it sure took what would have been a competitive game and turned it into a blowout.

They have won one title in nearly 40 years, despite having every advantage under the sun. To be fair, that is one more than us. Actually, it's 2, as they also won 1 in 1988. But they are seemingly always IN the playoffs. One in nearly 40 years...meaning post-1988.

Man, the Padres could screw up a wet dream.
Bad time for the bats to suddenly get impotent.

I don't know if you can be flat for a game like this, but it sure seems like we are. Actually, the last two games.

Darvish only gave up two runs, the offense needs to step up. This is only a two run game.

Boogerts and Groanenworthless need to pull the bats out of their AZZZZZZZZZZtecs and get the job done.
Not sure I really want to see either of them at bat, truth be told.
Enough is enough.

Boegarts hits a rocket right at someone (par for the course) and Croney does what he's been doing a lot of, which is striking out or not getting on base.

Regardless of outcome tonight, the Padres will be contenders yearly. Long-term process over short-term frustrations. The core is in place, they'll be able to spend money and they have the staff and player development on the upswing.

[b ok..thought you were talking about Padres. hey, I really want the Padres to win...but I'm from Bay Area..have seen plenty of world championships. Small markets have won world championships..Portland, San Antonio, Seattle, Tampa Bay etc. Can't imagine the pain of die hard SD fan. Really pulling for it, but at some point..you just have to win.

Why would you have Solano pinch hit for Higgy there? Higgy's been hitting so well this series.

Season in a nutshell. Your 2024 San Diego Padres… Perennial losers. Now watch as the lowly SPAZZZZZZZZtecs get poked by Cowboy Joe tomorrow at high noon - it's almost guaranteed to happen now.

Nice to be upbeat though, especially having just witnessed this complete failure.
