As a Padres fan for 50 years I don't find it funny. The Dodgers are always contenders, while the Padres rarely are - and when the Padres are contenders they ALWAYS run up against better teams that end their seasons in depressing fashion. You've probably been waiting all season to push that payroll line again. Well done.

I mean I have screenshots, but sure. Process over results. Darvish has done a good job of mixing speeds, but he's gotten away with mistakes. Well, at least MOST of his mistakes. He's given up one run so far. Giving up one mistake is very good. Edit: Make that two. Solo home runs are not great, but ok.

They have won one title in nearly 40 years, despite having every advantage under the sun.

The Padres are who we've always known they were. Sure, the game's not over, but isn't it? Once again they've been exposed for what they are.

Why leave Darvish in there? Why?
Shidt's crappy game management costs them again.

They've been in a position to chase a title almost every year. That's just money. That's bull$#!+. That doesn't happen in the NFL. MLB sucks.

Darvish pitched absolutely great. Two mistakes that were taken advantage of with no one on base. He certainly did his job. Let's hold em at two runs, and get a rally going.

Of the five teams that have never won a World Series ALL FIVE of them are small or mid market teams.

But they are seemingly always IN the playoffs.

Yes, if someone is a fan of the Dodgers, they always have hope. If they ever need more help, they can just buy it whenever need be. Must be nice.

But they are seemingly always IN the playoffs. And that isn't based on superior management. That's based on superior payroll and talent. When they make a mistake they reload the next year (or make a trade the same year). When the Padres make a mistake it takes them 2-4 years to fix it. That's where money comes in. You can buy better talent, and you can buy your way out of mistakes.

To be fair to the Chargers - the 49ers cheated on the salary cap that year, so they had a couple players that they shouldn't have. That made them a better team than they should have been. Was that the difference? Maybe not, but it sure took what would have been a competitive game and turned it into a blowout.

Of the five teams that have never won a World Series ALL FIVE of them are small or mid market teams. And 4 of those teams don't spend money like the Padres have in recent years. They also aren't drawing 40k plus per game like the Padres are. I don't think it will be too much longer before that list of 5 teams is reduced to 4.
