What a let down when Sale didn't start the 2nd game. Sale and Fried aren't lights out lately but they're still pretty formidable and could shut us down for a couple games. That would be a horrible way to go out after such a great season. I have to put my faith in this team as they've shown a remarkable resilience all year. Good pitching beats good hitting in the post-season but we have some serious hitting AND good pitching.
I'd rather play the Mets even though they took it to us earlier pretty good.

Just saw that. Kind of thought something like this might've been kept on ice - hasn't pitched for almost two weeks. Maybe the back issue contributed to the drop in his velocity over the last few games that he was in …Will be interesting to see if he recovers from his "back spasms" before tomorrow's game (if they manage to win this one). I would doubt it. Atlanta is on the ropes. Go Mets!! I don't buy the "back spasms" claim. The Braves know the Mets will be playing their JV team and they think they can win it without Sale. I mean he hasn't pitched since the 19th, so something is clearly going on.

Joey Lucchesi the starter for the Nets--the Braves say thank you.
Johnny Wholestaff pitching for the Braves--starting with Holmes, who pitched yesterday.
Go Braves!!!

The ideal scenario--Mets and Braves burn up their pitching staffs, they split the DH, and both teams are gassed, and have to travel to play tomorrow. Let the D-backs rest up to start their off-season golfing tomorrow.

Holmes is perfect through 4 innings for the Braves.
EDIT: Not anymore. Great outing by Holmes though.

Mets go back to Milwaukee.
Braves to Petco.
Snakes to an early hibernation.

Needed the split. Gamble paid off… we'll see who's available tomorrow.
Both teams get to celebrate. Nice.

If he does, I don't think he will be very effective, or be in the game very long. Unless Sale was sandbagging it for today, and he actually feels great. I understand that he hasn't pitched in awhile, but the adrenaline will be flowing through him, and that may produce a good/great outing. I sure hope not.

As someone who has suffered from back spasms, I can tell you no amount of "adrenaline" can help you overcome them, completely debilitating.

Looks like it. Just now getting wide reports. 83. Mutombo can fill him in on HOF life - on the way to wherever they're going now. Maybe MLB will lighten up now and let him in. You can bet it's gonna get more air time now that he's gone.
