Our old friend Mac Gore (3.49) on the bump tonight vs. Mazur (7.27). Somehow ESPN Matchup Predictor has Pads at 64.5%.

Which again, doesn't matter as they've already lost 41 games. Which doesn't matter at all.

Which doesn't matter at all. Is nobody going to lose 41 games? Is the season over? What am I missing? By playing more games than anyone else, their odds of losing an extra game or two are substantially higher by default. Given the mediocre nature of the National League, it stands to reason that the additional off days will benefit them while other teams are playing catch up, exposing themselves to more losses.

Given the mediocre nature of the National League, it stands to reason that the additional off days will benefit them while other teams are playing catch up, exposing themselves to more losses. Allegedly. No, factually. As I said before, since the unbalanced schedule exists, these teams will play each other more frequently..and someone has to lose. The injuries are a big deal at the moment, but nobody behind them really scares me. The Rockies and Marlins are sellers, the Giants are a dumpster fire, Arizona has hit a brick wall, the Reds and Cubs both lack serious pitching and offensive upgrades, the Mets are...the Mets, Pittsburgh has no track record, the Nationals are selling, St. Louis has major holes with Goldschmidt, Arenado and very little depth in the starting rotation. Those teams will continue to beat up on each other. I'm less worried about that than I am about the deadline and the injury front right now. They haven't handled the PR side of that well.

Lost in all of the J-Pro hoopla from last night: Waldo with yet another quality start; has quietly become the ace of this staff. From #5 to #1 … the only good that came out of the Clevenger deal. And with #1 and #2 possibly gone for quite awhile, they need to find some better #4 and #5 guys. Vazquez barely adequate, Mazur not ready for primetime. Hopefully he'll show me up tonight, but I'm not holding my breath. Without good, steady pitching, the Padres won't be going far this Fall. And now with Junior out for some indeterminate length of time, the talk has turned to Tommy Pham again. And this time, they may have to open the clubhouse door.

Ryan, Profar was talking about how he felt disrespected when they walked Arraez to get to him. It was a little extra motivation, he said. So yeah, it's not high school stuff when it comes to that. You'll need to rethink that.
This is just one of hundreds of examples of how people can use it in a good way to get that little extra edge. It's a human nature thing.

CJ Abrams opens this game with another hit. That's 4 hits in 6 ABs this series. And what did the Padres get? So-Who? CJ may want to show AJ the error of his ways. A little extra motivation? Probably. And then gets unceremoniously picked off first by Mazur. Still, no harm, no foul. And not just ONCE but TWICE! So much for showing up AJP I suspect MacKenzie Gore will also come in with some extra, added motivation tonight.

Ha Ha! Tempers are flaring already. Manny seems to have been the instigator. Profar and Ruiz were "conferring" about something - maybe last night's game ending action - Profar was pretty expressive about winning the game. Warnings all around. Ejections will wait for further transgressions. So Gore hits Profar on the very next pitch ~ And, there goes Shidt!?!? Gore still in there. Oh boy. And MANNY. LOL he CAN hit when he wants to! Holy cow! Gore's shook now. Big time.

Manny with a first pitch bomb after Gore, with the obvious intentional plunking of Profar, gets humiliated. Gotta love it!!!

Unbelievable that Gore didn't get rejected after obviously hitting Profar on purpose. Then again, I'm glad he stayed in there to throw to Machado. Let's see if we can get to him more. He's rattled.

I thought Angel Hernandez retired? WTF was the 1st base umpire looking at?

Well...no walks from Mazur. But lots of well struck hits.

Mazur needs lots of work. Apparently, he's going to get plenty of it here.
Abrams on base again. Another hit. This time he doesn't get picked off but gets sent back to first as a result of the second umpire interference call of this series. WTF is with this crew?

Wow!!! GRAND SALAMI FOR PROFAR!!! Oh yeah, he went "FAR"!!!
There are not enough superlatives to give out to explain how great of a season Profar is having. Unbelievable. Sooooo happy for him.
Some people on here, or maybe just one, said that you can't count on Profar in left field and be a Championship team. I heard the MVP chants. He may not get it, but he's proving people wrong.
I always liked his competitiveness. Never count out a guy like that. Tremendous.

As of today, I think the Padres have 2 NL ASG team members--Suarez and Profar.
