Team is in trouble with all these injuries - particularly to starting pitchers. It's a mess. Everyone gets the injury bug at some point, but this is affecting a few starters. Just when they were starting to at least play like a .500 team, too. They've played like a .500 team all season.

De los Suckos comes in - and - oh, guess what! Just as predictable as the sun coming up in the east he tosses another HR pitch - and once again he shows he can't pitch a scoreless inning in a tight situation in relief.
He Just Plain Sucks.
Unbelievable.

Like I said many times before, NEVER, EVER, count these Padres out of a game.

Unbelievable. He's so inconsistent. Horrible. Profar saves his butt. He better be buying dinner!!!

Not so fun fact--the Padres have 41 losses, which are less than, or equal to, 6 teams that are currently chasing them in the WC race. Not the best situation to be in.

Padres in the last Wild Card spot, 1 game behind the Cardinals. Then there are 7(!!!) teams within 3 games of them. So 9 teams within 4 games of each other for the playoffs.
Yes there are a ton of games left and it won't stay this bunched up forever but anyone can get real hot and start to pull away with the Braves.

Well, I hope your fact that you brought up about Shildt holds true and they can have a really good second half. They're starting to win more often at home. That's a start.

They've played more games than any other team in baseball and will benefit from a ton of off days. It doesn't change the fact that you can't make up losses. But it does mean that with the unbalanced schedule, those teams will have more losses spread out in the second half of the season. The Padres have the scheduling advantage and will have less games to play.
