And ... What's your point? A bus trip to Fresno and back would still be fun. And we could turn it into a nice humanitarian mission by bringing toothbrushes, soap, deodorant - things that are obviously in short supply in Fresno.

The Nevada/UNLV and SDSU/Fresno State rivalries were much needed for fan interest. My hope is that Comcast realizes this as well by opening up our markets for the MTN. We don't care about being wholesome. We drink beer, eat all kinds of fast food, have casinos and drive like hell. These four markets have advertising potential that's much larger than Utah's.

BTW, we have no historical rivalry with Fresno State. Our historical rivalry was with Long Beach State which no longer exists, and Fresno State's historical rivalry is with San Jose State, in which they still play for an annual trophy. President Weber has shown an interest over the years into getting Fresno State into the conference and with BYU no longer controlling the conference that is going to happen.

You've played Long Beach 29 times. You've played Fresno 50 times. In fact, I believe that you have played Fresno about a dozen more times than you have played any other school. www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/mountainwest/san_diego_state/opponents.phpThat said, we've played SJSU & UOP more than 70 / 60 times respectively. Still, I think it's safe to say that we have an historical rivalry with the Aztecs. I don't recall having a trophy with SJSU -- but we may have. We've won 16 of the past 17, however, so it's not much of a rivalry anymore. Yoda out...

Time to payback Fresno State for breaking Wayne Pittman's leg and helping end his football career.
Remember?

That is absurd. Our most hated rival next to MCRD. At the old Balboa Stadium the fans almost attacked the team from MCRD once.

In Phil's defense, it was, as I noted above, a 4-way rivalry between SDSU, Fresno, Long Beach and San Jose. Who was the most hated depends on who one talks to.

During the same time frame, we were 5 & 4 against CSU-Long Beach and playing them predominantly in November with half of those games late November. During our previous glory years, Long Beach was our rival.
