One of those nights, but ever since he missed the roadie because of "illness", he's been wonky. Tonight, he's horrible. Whole lotta hangin' going on.
And craps the mound on his Bobblehead night. SMFH

I think these guys really think they’re going to be able to turn it on when they absolutely have to do so. It’s about two weeks away from being too late.

Yeah, it's been stinky (Pee Yu) year for the whole team. I went into this year, lime everybody else, all hyped up, thinking we'd have a great chance at going to the World Series. What a HUGE debacle. One of the worst choke jobs in San Diego sports history, and that says something.

Lose the freakin' series to Pittsburgh. PITTSBURGH!!!! 0-5 RISP, this has to be the absolute softest team I have ever followed. They're lucky if they have 4 drops of testosterone among the whole team. I can't watch them any more. (but I'm sure I will)

Our all-time baseball sage, AJ Preller said this on July 18th:
“Kohlwey and Rivas, got two guys who are contact at-bats, left-handed. Kohlwey (plays) infield, outfield versatility. Rivas (is) a really strong defender. He continues to swing the bat well.”
These two "contact" hitters are 5-27 with 11 Ks so far. I don't know where to find the individual BAs for RISP. Does anyone know? But I know theirs are terrible like the rest of the team. Austin Nola actually has the worst average in MLB!

Kohlwey has excellent numbers in the upper minors and is one of those ultimate grinder types who deserved a shot. Rivas is a guy with big league experience who has flashed talent, local kid and capable of some versatility. They aren't the solutions to the bench, though. Carpenter, Cruz and others had to fail before we got here. Perfect storm of failing events.

One of the worst choke jobs in San Diego sports history, and that says something. Our record in one run games and extra inning games says it all. It's truly remarkable how inconsistent our team is on offense. 0-5 with runners in scoring position isn't going to get it done fellas.

Yep, all season long we couldn't hit with RISP, and are so inconsistent. It just seems like we came out of the gate flat, and then got flatter as the season progressed. A VERY long hangover from last seasons success.

Other than Grishams HR, Batten's three hits and Lugo's pitching they mostly sucked ass tonight. Tatis 0-5 2 Ks Soto thrown out at home by a mile. Didn't even slide. Bogaerts an error that led to an unearned run, hit into 2 double plays and choked with the bases loaded and no outs in the tenth (force out at home) Manny dropped a perfect throw by Sanchez to get the lead runner in the 10th. Sanchez 0-5 2 Ks

I gotta figure that ball had to have been really wet and more slippery than usual so I give Manny a half-pass considering all the Gold-Glove stuff his does otherwise. I bet if AJ would have had any idea that Kim was going to hit like this, he could have kept him at SS, Crononworth at 2B and paid half the Bogearts money for a power hitting 1B guy.

How did Soto not give full effort? You have to hold up on a line drive & he ran hard. He was out by 15 feet. Tatis wouldn't have scored on that. It's solely on Williams, not Soto. The ball was IN Mannys mitt! Being wet isn't a factor if the ball is held in the webbing. That's definitely on Manny. Can't see how anyone would blame Soto and give Manny a pass when blame is clearly the opposite. Bogaerts is 8th in OPS among all SS's this year, and 4th best over the past 30 days. He hasn't lived up to his salary, but neither have any of the FA SS's. He has the 5th best WAR on our team, and top 70 in the league. I have no issue with his signing and think he'll have a better year next season. The failure has been Cronenworth not delivering all season until this past week. He's a much bigger problem than Bogaerts.

I still like the idea of getting a power hitting first basemen and turning Cronenworth into a utility guy, cycling the infielders through the DH slot to give them rest days

He's a much bigger problem than Bogaerts. Soto completely stopped halfway up the line. If he had finished the run or made the catcher chase him, Bogaerts might have reached 2B instead of stopping at 1B. Sorry but a wet ball in a wet glove IS more difficult. I didn't say it wasn't his fault but we lost the game in the top of the 10th not the bottom. What's Bogaerts RISP numbers, do you know?

Yes but the entire infield was better when they had a 5 person rotation. Having a utility guy who can give you production is a good thing - basically you're using them instead of a DH - so more expensive but you get better DH production since Manny/Bogaerts/Kim/the power hitting first basemen/Cronenworth are your DH hitters in this hypothetical.
