Not a thing that's just going to get better. Needs surgery? If it's his wrist that's holding him back, then either he needed/needs surgery, or he needed to/needs to take time off to mend it. It may be too late in the season to shut it down now. Also, it's possible he's been told that it's an injury and he keeps playing, he won't hurt it any further than it is already.

Darvish was barely adequate tonight and probably deserved the "L". Felt like the Snakes were fully aware of what he was going to throw for any given pitch.
Not that Padres' sHitters managed to give him any support … A pathetic DH loss all the way around.
They suck.

Pee Yu gets hammered in the 3rd. Not a quality start - by any definition, and as is usual, ZERO run support.
Nothing left of this season except to throw the towel. These losers are done for in 2023.

I'd rather trade Soto next spring and use all that money on a couple good guys. I'd rather get rid of Bogarts but I don't think anyone will take him.

I think soto was under 200, the others just above 200. they should give back 20+% of their inflated salaries. trade soto for an average left fielder would be a good start. such a disappointing season.

I know there are some good Padre fans who are knowledgeable about baseball on this board who say that Grisham makes up for his "hitting" with his glove and yes, he is very good on defense but I just can't stand another season of watching him take strike after strike and then get called out on a borderline pitch that he took yet again. He's got no fire and I think tries to bunt so he won't strike out. And he's bad at bunting too.

Whatever the reason, the guy just doesn't come up big when we need him to. His RISP numbers are horrible. He's one of the MLB leaders in hitting into double plays, he can't carry Kim's glove at SS and his RBI total is a perfect reflection on his RISP failures. Put him at 1b, put Kim back at SS and Cronenworth back at 2B. We're stuck with Bogaerts for a long time, I'd much rather have Kim at SS. And BTW, Kim has more HRs and RBI than him too.

If I were GM he would have been gone in the offseason. He brings nothing to the table offensively except a bunch of strikeouts. He leaves an absurd number of runners on base. He's not the kind of player that's going to help a team get to the playoffs, let alone the World Series.

If there isn't some kind of surgery Bogaerts can get to improve his physical condition in the offseason they need to find a way to get him off the team. Unfortunately, it's starting to look like I was right years ago. If Bogaerts, Machado, and Darvish continue to underperform the Padres are going to be battling for next to last place for the next 5 or 6 years as they are going to be crippled financially. The Pads won't be able (or willing, likely, since he's underperforming, too) to extend Soto, so all of the guys they traded to get him were lost for nothing. It's a mess.

X 1000 The weirdest thing is how well he played in that post-season series last year but baby, THAT was a blind squirrel finding a nut.

I'm not sure Gore is going to be great but I think Abrams will be. He's got 14 HRs and 34 SBs so far and he's all of 22.

Pee Yu for Darvish. Likely done for 2023 with the elbow, and that stinks. No sense rushing him back to service at this point. The team is toast, and there's realistically the smallest possibility of them appearing in a post season game (unless they're sitting in the stands).

You gotta hang the PE YU on Soto. 8/29, another total screw up base running. Thrown out at home by 20 feet on a grounder to 3rd. Think he is done for the year and is thinking more of where he will vacation than on playing the game. Try to include him in a package deal with the Dodgers. (please, NO) he'll bat 360 with 45 hr's with the dodgers.

Either Junior missed a hit-run sign by hitting it to third or Scroto was just not paying attention to the situation (he has a bad habit of doing that lately). Maybe he thought there were two outs rather than one, maybe he didn't and just has a low average Baseball IQ when it comes to base running. Regardless, he was out by a mile.

Sounds like Darvish is back on the mound again and at least getting some reps in practice, hopefully he'll be back as soon as his 15 day R&R is up.
