Okay, so for clarity, this thread is about SDSU to the PAC -- not SDSU to the Big 12. That should go in a different thread. There are a number of AM posters who would prefer the Big 12 over the PAC -- for stability reasons, principally -- so I'm sure they will want to know where to post what. Obviously, a thread that included SDSU to the Big 12 can't exclude a discussion of Fresno because our future or futures there, if any, are entirely interrelated. Recall that our president called yours and invited her to make a joint presentation with us to the Big 12. And if the PAC TV deal is insufficient to keep all the PAC schools together in the PAC or is insufficient to support expansion that includes SDSU, then we could still be going into the Big 12 together -- or fighting each other for a single G-5 slot. I don't think I've ever posted anything ever about Fresno to the PAC -- they don't want us and we don't want them. But I would think that Fresno and/or SDSU to the Big 12 is entirely germaine to this board. So please designate the proper thread for that discussion. So now you are setting the rules? I don't think so. Like the rest of us non-moderators here you can only interpret what you read about them, but since you asked for clarity, let me clarify what I asked WLR to consider. 1. SDSU to the Pac 12 vs. Big 12 debate is IMHO welcome here. By definition, if we end up going to the Big 12 that bears on our ability to go to the PAC 12 and therefore is appropriately placed here. Fresno State is clearly not on the short list for a PAC 12 invitation and therefore any mention of it here is not appropriate. 2. You have made up a fantasy about Fresno State being the driving force regarding SDSU joining the Big 12, always accompanied by conjecture regarding insufficient TV money, Pac 12 corner schools moving, or some other nonsense. SDSU decision makers have made clear their preference for the Pac 12 and turned down FSU's invitation to join forces. Those same decision makers have also made it clear they prefer the PAC 12 at this time, but have an option to go with the Big 12 if things dont work out with the PAC. What is missing is they have never expressed any interest in partnering with FSU for a Big 12 package, so the only place the two are inextricably linked is in your mind and perhaps sometimes in the disinformatiion campaign currently being waged by Big 12 honks. So until there is some statement from SDSU saying they will not go to the Big 12 unless FSU is included, any discussioin of Fresno State is off topic in this thread IMHO. If you persist I will seek clarification from the Mods and they will either agree to that request, or because you seem in perpetual need of clarification, we'll start a new thread entitled Really Official SDSU to a P5 Conference - No Discussion of Fresno State Allowed That should be plain enough for you, and acceptable to those concerned only with the Aztec's athletic future. In the meantime, I invite you to start your own thread to discuss SDSU and FSU's conjoined journey to the Big 12. That one should get to 400 pages in no time.

Don't psot on any other thread and see what happens. I would think you will get a bit of action but not nearly as much as you get now. I did that. Mods closed it.

You could get your "most interesting " fix and save the rest of us the anxiety of reading his crap. This is the most important decision in sdsu athletic history and we have no choice but to come here for the latest CREDIBLE information.

I don't expect to be the most popular, but I do try to be interesting -- to bring a perspective that is a little more thought provoking than yet another rendition of "everything's coming up roses". I'm genuinely sorry that that offends some of you; it's certainly not my intent.

Actually, the entire "Speculation" thread(s) have transmogrified into a eunuch. No pop and sizzle, just sanitized pablum.

So I guess the whole acrimonious escalation between the B12 and the P12 is BYU's fault. Makes sense.

However, I disagree with you contention that Yoda makes this mess less tolerable to read. I haven't found the posts here intolerable to read, other than Yoda's posts quoting sources he admits even he doesn't believe.

For clarity, I'm not saying that I disbelieve any source that I cite. I'm just saying that there are two sides in the PAC vs Big 12 "wars" -- and both sides lie and spin. Administrators play the media (continued access) and their own supporters (ego rush) to push their own narratives. Too much information is second or third hand or unsourced. So I take everything with a grain of salt -- no matter where it comes from. I'm into "trust buy verify" and this is a topic that none of us can verify directly. So it's not that I don't believe sources that I cite, but I don't entirely trust them either. I've been played before. There are too many conflicts of interest to hang your hat entirely on sources who may or may not even be getting the straight story themselves.

First off, I don't trust Presidents or ADs -- yours or ours. Ultimately, they are the source of most of the conflicting misinformation that the media is reporting. They have a narrative and expectations to manage and, in my view, few of them limit themselves to the truth in doing so. Second off, a provisional offer is not a firm offer. The PAC still had a $40 mil, largely linear, TV deal in mind in November and I expect that if they were getting that, then SDSU would be a no brainer. While I'm fairly certain that you are in at this point, I would argue that a $24 mil, 100% streaming TV deal, would materially impact the likelihood of you getting an invitation -- they may not want to share if you don't add value to the conference immediately. It's not even clear that all the schools would sign a GOR or stay in the conference with such a low offer. And some PAC presidents have said that their Board won't even address expansion until after the TV deal is settled. So, if they haven't addressed it, it can't be a firm offer. Similarly, it seems highly unlikely that the Big 12 would make a firm offer before knowing what other PAC schools may be interested in moving. If ASU, Oregon, Washington and Utah all wanted in to the Big 12, I'm guessing that you (and we) would be SOL. Nobody knew for certain IN NOVEMBER that they would not be interested in moving -- once the TV deal was done. The UC Board of Regents hasn't been in the way since approving the UCLA move in December -- so, if you have a firm offer, then why wasn't it announced long ago? UC Board of Regents approves UCLA’s move to Big Ten in 2024 ==> theathletic.com/4003755/2022/12/14/uc-board-of-regents-ucla-big-ten/We can agree to disagree, but in my view, nobody has a firm offer until the ink is dry. There were way too many moving parts for any firm offers to have been out there in November.

Would point out it is the Presidents that get to vote on everything
Do agree that while there can be Conditional offers from Conferences until there is an official voted on offer from a Conference it is Totally Conditional - very likely Non Binding -
The Big 12 most likely wants PAC schools - so they and the PAC are waiting for the TV Deal to be completed before they move onto their Plan B - So MW schools are as we all know for over 400 + pages on hold for a Signed Confirmed Offer

No matter how many or what thread is called , it eventually turns into Pee Wee Herman's Playhouse! "I know you are but, what am I?" I not gonna glance at this thread anymore. I assume there will be a REAl announcement thread when there is something to announce? Carry on with the same BS.

There were way too many moving parts for any firm offers to have been out there in November. First off who you trust is a personal decision. In this case I think you choose not to trust anybody who says something not in line with your hoped for realignment outcome. Two questions come to mind though. One, why do you feel who you trust is important to anyone else here? Second, despite never having met SDSU’s president, much less worked with her, you’ve determined she’s not trustworthy. How were you able to do that, and how about going on the record with those you do trust? Secondly, you decided to lecture us regarding the difference between firm offers and provisional offers. It seems to me you’re really explaining the difference between a signed contract and a provisional offer, but hey who am I to suggest that your law degree doesn’t give you insight into the legal affairs of Universities and their athletic endeavors. However, there is one area you seem to be demonstrably engaging in fantasy again. Please go back and reread Boise’s short post. In it he never mentions provisional offer, he says he is aware that SDSU has a firm offer from the PAC 12. Based on your statement you seem to be, with no proof, calling him a liar. I take offense at that insinuation and believe it’s a clear violation of forum rules. Unless you have proof, you owe him an apology. Thirdly, while something may seem highly unlikely to you, that doesn’t mean it is not what is really happening; so your statement is IMHO more a reflection of your inability to understand the decisions of those you mistrust rather than proof of what is really going on. In this case, it is just as likely that since Yormack was informed of SDSU’s desire to join the PAC instead of the BIG no announcement was made because it might be taken by some as a negative comment on his conference. As an example, there has been no announcement from the BIG 10 that ND is not joining. Regarding the UC BoR, I’m not as familiar with their inner workings as you seem to think you are, but once again go back and read Boise’s post. All he said as I read it is that the Board got in the way of a November announcement, and we are all aware of what happened at that time. He did not suggest there have not been subsequent issues, but those untrustworthy Presidents have been pretty clear they want to announce the tv deal first, and then expansion second. Doesn’t mean they haven’t decided they want to get back to 11 or 12 teams, nor does their silence mean they do not have portions of a tv deal completed. It just means they want to keep negotiations close to their chests, and don’t feel any compelling pressure to meet deadlines you or we have in mind. Finally, you guess that SDSU or (we, which apparently means FSU) may have trouble getting into the BIG 12 if certain events occur. A reminder, you previously said you understood that this thread is about SDSU only, and yet there is a parenthetical mention of Fresno. Does that mean you understood the rules but choose to ignore them?
