Best true big coming out of HS for the program, period.

It doesn’t fade for a guy with elite length/athleticism/quick second jump. Is he going to ever average 16 ppg for us? No, but he’s quite good and will get second chance opportunities, chances to finish in transition, and in the “dunker” spot. Think josh davis with better rim finishing That would be a dream scenario, Josh was an elite finisher, and a stud rebounder. Josh was also 6'8, this guy is 6'6 (maybe). Will wait to see if he is really 6'6, 6'5, or 6'7. I agree that he might really be 6'-5", 6'-6", but with long arms. If you watch his dunks, he doesn't seem to get much air like thunder thighs Eddy GORDON who could jump out of the gym (too bad we couldn't get his son Aaron), or Dwayne POLEE Jr, Westchester H.S in LA & was actually a transfer from St. Johns U. POLEE had a 40" Vertical leap & was the 2010 H.S best dunker. I'll never forget the Dunk he made at the Arrowhead Pond against U of A at the 5:35 mark before half time putting SDSU up 27-22 causing Sean Cheater MILLER to call T.O during the Sweet 16 game 2014. It's my all time favorite Dunk & it put the Aztec crowd into a Frenzy. YouTube video. Unfortunately A. Gordon scored 15 and we lost.

If he doesn't get much air but still dunks, wouldn't that mean he's taller? Assuming we realize he has long arms already

He may be part Josh Davis, part Zylan, part Keshad. He's a good dunker and he can go up and get the ball off the glass. Solid get. I'm not going to compare him to Draymond or Barkley. Both of those players were great passers. We will see how good Compton is at passing.

Probably already been mentioned, but...remember, he is still 17 (and growing) right? I was about 6' at age 17, and topped out at just under 6'2".

sounds as if Dutcher and the staff have 3 Verbals that should turn into Commits the early part of November
any thought if they are set with their HS recruits and leave other possible recruits for the Transfer Portal or try to see if they can get another high quality HS recruit ?

I've heard that they're done with high school recruiting for '24, and we can expect them to hit the portal for some experienced guard play.

At this point, we only have 0 to 1 scholarships available, which assumes Lamont Butler goes professional. Waters, Parrish, and Pal have an extra Covid year. All eyes are on Shay Johnson as his minutes may be on the blocks, with Heide and Saunders's growth. (if a transfer, then 2 scholarships, since we haven't played a game, and OOC, the MWC schedule/tourney, and in March Madness, many, many scenarios can still play out. 2023 Roster - Scholarships 01. Darrion Trammell - Super Senior 02. Jaedon LeDee - Super Senior 03. Cade Alger - Senior 04. Lamont Butler - Junior (NBA Likely) 05. Reese Waters - Junior 06. Micha Parrish - Junior 07. Jay Pal - Junior 08. Miles Byrd - Sophomore 09. Elijah Saunders - Sophomore 10. Shay Johnson - RS Sophomore 11. BJ Davis - Frosh 12. Miles Heide - Frosh 13. Magoon Gwath - Redshirt Frosh 2024 Recruit - Verbal Commits01. Taj DeGourville 02. Pharaoh Compton 03. David Majak

Waters, Parrish & Butler are all in the same class, so all could return or all could go pro. I don't think Butler's that much more likely to go pro than Waters. Technically, once the '24 guys sign, we have 1 opening (Pal's spot), but could have as many as 4. The staff will have a good handle on this by late March & at that point we could add 1-4 via the portal. Doubt we go after any more HS players - all our primary targets have committed. Plus, we're already going to be very young, so I'd expect Dutch to replace a senior with a senior, etc.

Coug is correct Jay Pal will be playing his 5th season this year
Reese and Micah unless they have breakout season could have an additional year to play - be it here or as a grad transfer if they finish their academic under graduate studies
Lamont is a senior and very likely heading to the NBA if he plays at a very high level
Ledee , DT , Jay Pal all have finished their eligibility - also Cade Alger ?
Think Elijah and Myles should develop and be back - some have said Miles Heide is having a productive Fall Practice
Shay Johnson does he develop enough to stay and give some experience up front ?
As mentioned the coaches and players can worry about that when the time comes and of course who knows about injuries ?
So sit back and enjoy the season

They're wrong. Pal played at a JC & 3 years at Campbell. He's a 5th year. Butler, Waters & Parrish are all 4th year players. Look at their bios not what a website tells you.

He spent two years at Jacksonville State, prior to Campbell. 2019-2020 Clarendon, TX JC Played 16 games and averaged 5.6 RPG and 10.3 PPG, named the No. 62 overall JUCO prospect by JUCORecruiting.com 2020-2021 Jacksonville State (OVC) Played 27 games, started 21, and averaged 4.4 RPG and 5.2 PPG 2021-2022 Jacksonville State (ASUN) Played 28 games, started 1, and averaged 2.5 RPG and 2.9 PPG 2022-2023 Campbell (Big South) Played 32 games, started 32, and averaged 7.0 RPG and 12.3 PPG 2023-2024 San Diego State (MWC)

I like that, showed a little bit of range, put it on the deck some, and we all know about the finishing at the rim part.

Sure seems that Coug is correct on Jay Pal
First year at Clarendon
Year 2 and 3 at Jackson State
Year 4 Campbell
So he gets the Covid season year FIVE this year at SDSU not sure how he would get an additional season unless he was injured and one of those years was a red shirt season
