Just throwing another name out there, albeit I doubt it happens. Dishon Jackson, 6'10, 250lb C formally of WSU. Just went back into the portal after committing to Charlotte (their HC left for Virginia). Played in 2021 & 2022, prior to taking a medical RS in 2023 for an unnamed condition (had surgery but why not revealed). Very talented player, when healthy. Would have been the starting center for WSU this past season (allowing Diongue to RS). Why he's a fit - while he's probably seeking a bigger role than we can offer, the fact he'll had medical issues could make playing 15-ish minutes a night for a year attractive & a good fit. Assuming his condition doesn't require special care. Would be a very efficient player in limited minutes, and is a proven scorer at the P12 level. Dropped 18 on USC as a FR; has scored in double figures 10 times in P12 games, etc. Why not a fit - given 2021 covid year, plus missing last year he'll have 3 years to play 3 remaining, putting him in the same class as Shay (but a year older). He's not the 1-year player that Dutch & crew are seeking. His barrier to us is basically the same as Diongue, but in a different way. Diongue is 185 soaking wet, and needs a year to develop. If he'd RS, putting him a year behind Shay, it'd make more sense but that doesn't address our needs this year. Jackson may require a year to get back to where he was, but has used his RS and, again, he'd conflict with Shay. See and that's why I think Malcolm Dandridge would be such a good fit. Malcolm has had medical issues, but only has one year remaining. I'm sure he would be. But he hasn't been linked to SDSU has he? IMO, like with Brown, he's seeking a bigger role for his final year than what we're looking for. I'd expect someone more along the lines of a Tomiac or Diabate than Dandridge. The other thing with Dandridge - he's the same size as Ledee (6'9), so if we're seeking length he's not the answer. We've got plenty of bulk. Personally I like Muoka of UNLV, but believe he's also seeking a bigger role on a bigger stage (w/ Bama being a candidate). An issue with Jackson is he may not get cleared to play this year. Rumor has it WSU's doctors wouldn't clear him, which is why he left. Otherwise he'd be the starting center on a P12 team. He may have decommitted from Charlotte for the same reason? Nobody really knows.

U think Johnson will be the only one? If one of the young studs coming in blows up they wouldn't consider it? It's reality! And common sense. That's different, Johnson was here for 4 years, got his degree and then moved on. He fulfilled his commitment to SDSU. My point was that with the portal and NIL, now anyone could be could be considered one n done, especially if they blow up. Didn't say Johnson left after one year or that anyone has left after first year because of NIL. Yet!

We rarely lose guys to the portal unless seeking more PT (or a position change), so no. The culture here is way too strong, and players know where they stand. More so, few FR play big minutes here given Dutch tries to "stay old". Hard to 'blow up' based on playing 12-15 minutes a game. You're projecting doomsday based on no history of it ever happening. That's MY point.

Malcolm has had medical issues but only has one year remaining. Dandridge is loosely tied to SDSU (though I have not seen anything official) The longer the portal lingers, the less likely we are to sign a post player. I'd say 95% of the better Centers have signed, and most of the back-ups have committed (not walk-ons/and true bench warmers). However, GTR's can come and go as they please. If healthy Jackson (WSU) fits our needs. But there are a number of drawbacks: 1) Unnamed medical issues, had surgery in Fall/Winter 2022 - nothing disclosed 2) Would need to be clear by Aztec Medical and Coaching Staff 3) Injury prone in his first two seasons at Wazzu 4) Would only play 10-15 minutes behind LeDee 5) Shay Johnson may be better than we all think and have the backup 5 locked up We've had success with Washington State Transfers: X, Malachi & Valentine. I don't think Jackson ever played a minute for Charlotte. He is a California prospect from Oakland, CA.

Wouldn't mind him but wouldn't expect it. I've always wondered about Ighoefe? He had 7 RBs & 3 blocks against us in Anaheim a couple years ago, and then came back with 4, 14 & 3 blocks the next night vs. St Joes. Hasn't been a big time threat, but we don't need that. Just a senior who gives us security in case Shay struggles for a while. At 7'0, 255 he's a big body who can block shots. But so is Shay, just with less court experience. I always thought finding a center was going to be a struggle given who's already on our roster.

Vintage SD coug here… you’re trying so hard to be right and get your little digs in on people that you can’t let yourself comprehend what is being said. Speak to people with respect and show some grace my man. Players transferring is VERY much in play if our NIL is not improved. If Saunders for example has a huge year and Arizona, Alabama and Kentucky are reaching out to him that is something to be concerned about going forward. This is a much different landscape than Johnson’s first 4 years so getting your point across by saying “but Keshad didn’t transfer until After His senior year” is just plain silly. Plain and simple in this landscape any type of transfer is very much in play for most teams in the country.. that’s MY point

They didn't. Butler has options to leave, as did other players. They didn't. The world could end tomorrow. It won't. I'm not a doomsayer like you apparently. Until NIL actually is a reason for players leaving I'm not going to worry about it. The average top 3 player on a G5/WCC/A10 program earns $35k, which we're at if not have exceeded, given the $2/Month plus their own personal contracts. The rest of our roster earns more than average. We could always do better, but the culture established at SDSU keeps players here. It's proven that, probably more than any program in the country. That's not trying to be right or get in a dig, that's voicing an opinion based on facts. Most people can comprehend the difference.

You are living in a delusional state if you don't think a player might leave for NIL opportunities elsewhere. You can scream culture and stuff all you want but the reality is most humans in the world are driven by money, that ain't different for college athletes and their family. In fact if anything they would likely be more driven by it as lot of them need money, not just want it.

Again, you’re not understanding the point because you’re too busy trying to get in your digs and demand that everyone bow down to your OPINION as though it is fact. You keep bringing up that nobody has left for NIL but we literally just had a starter from our best team ever transfer for NIL money. Talk to Keshad or anyone close to him and it’s obvious to anyone Keshad left for NIL money. Nobody is saying the program is dead and we’ll lose all our players.. normal rational people are just trying to convey that transfers out of the program is definitely a concern going forward, just as it is a concern for basically every program in the country. The way you try to get your points across is absolutely disgusting and has turned dozens of people away from this forum. It will not be tolerated anymore and you will be called out every single time. Speak to people on this board with respect and stop trying so hard to be “right” because frankly your takes have been wrong 90% of the time so you of all people should think twice before being so confident to the point of degrading people over their takes.

Personal Well Being with 61% I look at it this way - we could have lost Butler, Ledee, Trammell & several others to the portal for NIL this offseason but we didn't. And we haven't previously. Some cultures are much stronger than others, ours included. Even Johnson didn't even leave for NIL reasons (it was pretty much known he was gone in February due to differences with the staff). In your example, often those leaving for more pay are also at lesser, 2nd tier companies. Nobody can predict the future, but I tend to believe in history first & foremost.

Can't lose them "very often" when you haven't lost any yet. It could happen, but until it does....
