Don't forget you can also withdraw from the portal and come back to your original school. Does not sound like he will do that but who knows. Dutcher said if you put yourself in the portal he going to find someone to replace you.

He's done whatever he could to help us improve as a team and culture in his time here, time for him to get some decent to serious money wherever it maybe whether more NIL elsewhere or overseas. Would love to see him in the NBA someday down the road.

Making into the NBA/Top International leagues; that will only bring more shine to SDSU as we recruit in the future 2. Make boatload of cash He's been a great teammate that waited and grinded and gave it all to this program.

This will open up play time for our highly touted freshmen Byrd and Saunders and incoming freshmen BJ Davis and Heide, and will make us more attractive to potential transfers that are considering us.
This program won't drop off like some others, we have sustained success now.

No school is giving KJ big NIL money. He’s a roll player not a star. He improved over his years at SDSU but he’s not a go to guy. His best asset is still his athleticism. His ball handling skills aren’t good and neither is his shot. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

You're assuming he cares about NIL. Plus, once you're in the portal Dutch has said you're as good as gone. They'll start recruiting to replace you. If he doesn't play overseas and does transfer to another school, why wouldn't "Care" about NIL money. You don't leave a Final 4 team to play for another college and not have NIL in your mind. SDSU players make 2K a month. Billionaire in Miami gives 400K to players. Even If KJ doesn't get a large payout, he'll get more than 2K a month. A Final 4 team couldn't keep him here, but good for him. This^. If he's looking for NIL money to help out he'll find it out there and I hope he does if that is what he wants. He truly deserves it after five years of solid hard work for him and the program here at SDSU.

Not really unexpected after he was reported to be 50/50 on coming back next year. Good luck to Keshad and hope he gets some good NIL money. Now we have to wait to hear if LeDee is coming back. I get the impression that he wants to play elsewhere, if anything. Overseas is out of the question as is the NBA. I recall as early as Keshad's freshman year, Mark Z. of the UT said he has the best potential to make it into the NBA due to his physical hops and length if he puts it all together. He has been a team guy, and I wish him to land somewhere at a high-major program, even if it is a losing program, that allows him to be "the guy" that plays 30+ minutes per game with 15-20 shots, and hope he produces with eye popping stats (20+ pts, 10 RB per game)... then get drafted in the 2nd round, and with some luck, get a seat in the league (NBA).

He is without question the best dunker in Aztec history, but are we sure he would he have started again next year? I wish him well, regardless! Best SDSU Dunker, Eddie Gordan who could jump out of the gym with his Tomahawk Dunks. Aaron Gordon got his hops from his dad. Dwayne Polee is next. Never saw Eddie as he was before my time. I watched pretty much every minute of Polees career at sdsu and let’s just say I strongly disagree. 😃

www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/story/2023-04-12/san-diego-state-sdsu-aztecs-basketball-keshad-johnson-nba-draft-transfer-portalMark Z's article expressed he desires to play more of the 3 role to refine his image to NBA has a wing player, instead of being a Power Forward player SDSU had him play with his back to the basketball. This makes sense. Overall, the article highlights great stuff about where he came from, where he started freshman year to where he is now. Keshad will don Aztecs cap even if he goes play at another school for his 5th year, after he finishes his collegiate career. His heart is with SDSU, there is no question about that. But he just needs to make this tough decision to depart the team, assess the landscape, and continue to grow, to best position himself for the future.

Don’t blame him. Dudes wants to get paid either playing professionally or nil. Wish him the best of luck. I don't think transferring will be about NIL at all. More about opportunity to round out his game for the pro's. He's given his all to SDSU for 4 years, and has won consistently. Would have been 4 years, 4 NCAAT's if not for Covid, including a F4. He has his degree, so nothing more to do here academically. Now it's about preparing him to play professionally, or jumping straight to pro ball if told that's a relevant option. The committee is most likely going to tell him his future is as a 3, and that he needs to work on his perimeter game and handles. In talking with Dutch, he probably didn't get the feeling his minutes would increase into the 28-30+ range nor he'd get a much larger share of the offense. Now he needs to find a place that gives him that option. Given what he's given to this university it's easy to wish him well. We'll definitely miss him! Keshad, simply put, has been nothing but a winner for SDSU. So yes, very easy to wish him well! However, as his game stands right now, he has 0% chance at the NBA. Until he can a) catch and shoot with accuracy and b) create his own shot off the dribble, he is destined for some country ending in -stan. He has all the other skills. If he transfers and wants to be a bigger part of an offense... he would have to transfer down a level in competition.

I can see him wanting to play pro somewhere, but also entering the transfer portal is strange to me. He didnt put up good enough numbers to earn a big NIL deal anywhere. Why play at another college at this point (if that is what he does)? He has an issue with one of the coaches
