Definitely don't see a fit, unless he's grown 4-5 inches. Doubt he comes here to take on a part-time role off the bench. If Butler goes to G-League, AU or EU, then sure. Terrific player though. Could he end up back home at Cal? Luster been following him when SDSU after the national championship game. Clearly they have some interest in him. They follow a lot of people. Some in response to those people following them; others just to be polite. You follow him in case Butler stays in the draft, which is unlikely. Otherwise, zero interest. But more so, why would he come here to play 17-18 minutes after playing nearly 30 & being "the guy"? He's not starting here. You thought they were interested in Brady Dunlap because he followed his mom, or vice versa. They weren't. They had ZERO interest in him once he decommitted, and that's coming directly from 2 of our AC's.

Also, coaches rarely I do mean rarely follow players that are on other teams. Especially right after the national championship game. So, Dave Velasquez started following Dunlap mom during the NCAA tournament, just on a whim. That is what you are saying? Oh wait that is what you are saying. WTF Also, Boise Aztec said they had interest in Dunlap. I guess he wrong too.Right? I trust him over you any day of the week. Please, you can’t use I talked to the coaches spiel anymore.

I won't argue with you since you are clearly contributing for access to your information. normally you are bit more polite about it though, such as when I mocked the Utah football series that hadn't been announced yet, with you extolling the virtues. that at least furthers the discourse.

Jay Pal 6'9" 190 lbs has 1 year to play as Super Senior - describes himself as a multi positional player on both ends of the court - can do a variety of things to help the team
Came to SDSU for a visit - coaches showed him he would be a perfect fit
has a frame similar to J. McDaniels

I think we were all over the moon with the possibility of Josiah Allick-Warren Washington. Alas, we're just not there yet with NIL, so we'll just have to keep performing with our typical types of players, and Jay Pal seems to be just that. Our rotations will be different next year for sure, but I think well within the realm of workable for our great coaching staff.
Just one missing piece left, and that's the big rim-protecting 5. We're not gonna be as good as we were last year, Allick-Washington would have had me thinking National Championship game all over again, but it's not like we haven't won with under-the-radar players before. I'm hoping for the San Jose State kid, seems like the best option for what we need for our last spot. If we were to get him or someone of his caliber, I think we have a decent shot at another S16.
EDIT: saw that in addition to Diallo from SJSU, Ziegler also floated the name Adrame Diongue from Washington State. First time I've heard that name, don't know anything about him and doesn't look like he played much last year. But man, if you thought Jay Pal was a unique body type at 6'9 and 190 lbs, check out this guy at 7'0 and 190 lbs! If we could get some weight added to this guy's frame, could be a great get based on what I've just read about his prep career and skillset. Can't imagine he'd help too much this year, more of a 5 to 15-minute guy when we're playing against other 7-footers in the tournament, but does look to have some upside for the future.

Adrame Diongue is 7 ft tall with a 7 ft 5" Wingspan - true freshman at WSU that averaged 6 minutes 1 point and 2 rebounds - did have an injury during the year . HS Chandler HS and was rated 4 star - considered as a strong defender , rim protector and rebounder . Think from Senegal - not sure when he stared playing basketball and considered to have a very high ceiling . So there could a thought to either have him or Heide RS ?
Shay Johnson is also known as a good defender -

Maybe, but still unproven at a higher DI level; 1x Juco, 2 szn's at Jax State (Alabama in the ASUN) + 1x Campbell College (Big South) fewer starts, lesser stats, but perhaps quicker and more athletic.

Agreed - but I'd argue Allick was just kinda "a guy" when he leveled up conferences last year as well. New Mexico played one of the worst NCSOS' in the country - then Allick in conference games dropped to 7.5ppg. Jay Pal PER 2022-23: 22.8 Career: 18.0 WS 2022-23: 4.3 Career: 6.9 Allick PER 2022-23: 14.2 Career: 18.1 WS 2022-23: 3.1 Career: 9.7

Jay Pal 73% FT and 33% on threes and decided he wanted to be here right after his visit and the coaches showed him how he was a perfect fit ( with an assist from fellow acquaintance from Omaha AG )
Allick - did not want to play basketball here or the NIL was not good enough
CBD - chose not want to attend classes at SDSU

I saw every game last year and he played what- 20 minutes total for the whole season against terrible teams in garbage time? What did you see that the coaching staff missed? Geez!!

I should have said in HS he was known for being a good defender
Or maybe ask the Aztec coaches why they signed him

I was just of the mindset that we needed a versatile 4/5 like Allick as opposed to a versatile 3/4 like Pal (PLUS the rim-protecting 5 in either scenario). But, that was more to "mimic" the success we had last year, I loved how our 4 bigs just wore dudes down over the course of 40 minutes. Now, w/ Pal in play, we're looking at a team with a little bit of a different makeup than last year, excited to see how the coaches lay out the minutes for each one of these guys.
