Regardless of what side you're on, do you think DeSantis is our next POTUS?
I think it's a lock he runs, but he has not yet announced.
Thoughts? This isn't "would you vote for him", it's how likely it is you think he wins. He's extremely popular and much of America has soured on Biden and liberal policies on law enforcement, the border, and the economy.
"But DeSantis isn't showing signs that he is ready to officially announce his candidacy. He says he's focused on being governor and dismisses questions about presidential ambitions.
But for anyone who looks, there are some obvious signs that he's preparing to run. He has an autobiography titled The Courage to Be Free due to be released early next year. The publisher's press release says it is the story of a governor who, "has fought—and won—battle after battle, defeating not just opposition from the political left, but a barrage of hostile media coverage proclaiming the end of the world."
DeSantis raised more than $200 million for his reelection for governor, including $10 million in a single donation from a Las Vegas real estate developer, much more than he needed. He currently has at least $90 million in the bank and is still fundraising. His immense campaign fund helped him beat his Democratic challenger, Charlie Crist, by nearly 20 points."

He isn't, "Extremely popular." About 30% of American voters love the guy. I'm pretty sure that at least 30% hate him.
Does he win? It depends on how that 40% in between views him.

Sure about that, bud? --"Over 60% of registered voters don’t want Trump or Biden to run in 2024 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is reaching far beyond the boundaries of the Sunshine State to take command of the Republican Party nationally, if he wants it, according to a new Suffolk University/USA TODAY national poll of registered voters. Nearly two-thirds of Republican voters and independents who identified as either conservative or very conservative (65%) said they want DeSantis to run for president, and 56% of those same voters said they prefer him to former President Donald Trump. “There’s a new Republican sheriff in town,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center. “DeSantis outpolls Trump not only among the general electorate, but also among these Republican-leaning voters who have been the former president’s base. Republicans and conservative independents increasingly want Trumpism without Trump.” www.suffolk.edu/news-features/news/2022/12/13/00/53/suffolk-poll-shows-ron-desantis-significantly-outpolling-donald-trumpwww.miamichamber.com/news/poll-gov-ron-desantis-one-most-popular-governors-america

This a very good question. It seems as though many have soured on Trump, but I wouldn't count him out yet, especially after the debates start. As of today, I would say DeSantis would win the election.

No surprise there. So what? America is a moderate country that doesn't want extremists on either side. DeSantis is a far right extremist, so there are likely more people who would NOT want him to be President than those who would want him in the White House. Could he still win? Sure. Right now there aren't exactly a ton of great options on either side.

Nice reading comprehension.
As usual, you’re wrong. Nothing above there says or even implies “far right”.
Do you even know what far right actually means politically?

If you're keeping a tally I can tell you there are 2 Americans in Kenmore, WA that want nothing to do with being ruled/governed by that Napoleonic looking putz!

I mean I think that he has a chance, but I would put my money on Biden. DeSantis needs to figure out the best way to navigate Roe v Wade on a national stage in order to win, because US voters oppose the overturn of Roe v Wade by a two to one margin. He may need to try to thread the needle - something along the lines of 'well, I support the right for women to get an abortion at the beginning of a pregnancy, but after the first trimester they need to make a decision with that fetus that's turning into a baby.' There are a lot of moderate Americans who probably share a similar stance. The total outlaw of abortions, something which can be seen in some of the deep south states, is something that the majority of Americans do not support. So people who don't support that may end up not voting for DeSantis because they want to flip the court back so that Roe v Wade is upheld in the future.

Do you think that Biden being Biden may supercede the points you've made? Not to mention the Classified Documents issue that's just surfaced. He's going to look extremely bad on a debate stage, etc....

I'm not sure how much that will play a role. Some people question his mental faculties, that maybe he's slow or something. I don't see this as a real issue. He's surrounded with leaders in his cabinet and he weighs their opinions and make sound decisions. For all the Biden criticism, what actions has he take during his presidency that were bad?

Where have we heard that before? There's just a heckuva of a lot more ammunition there, than the last time. Based on....what? Biden's approval rating is the highest it's been since October of 2021. The average American voter isn't going to care about documents being misplaced or mishandled, much like they didn't care about Biden's performances on stage or his speech impediment. The average voter cares a hell of a lot more about overturning Roe v. Wade, the economy and other actual important factors.

Trump took documents with him on his way out of office. Biden had documents in his house, found them and gave them back. A warrant was required to regain Trump's documents. What Biden did was stupid, what Trump did was illegal...

No genuine comparison can be made.
