May we be on the correct side of history today. The American side.

My vote by mail ballot was counted this morning!
Hoping that Democracy survives the current assault by the right.

Its more than an assault.. these people are pigs. Orange Shitler called Nancy Pelosi an "animal" last night at a rally. good way to de-humanize and get somebody killed. Of course tucker carlson said that if the Republicans lose, the election was stolen. Another way to get people killed.

Be wary of the smokescreens today from both sides - Interesting early numbers in Nevada and Pennsylvania, but doesn't mean a ton yet. A lot of these races are going to be very close.

But they shouldn't be. Democrats have considerably more registered voters than do Republicans. Republicans are better at two things - cheating and getting their base out to vote.

A lot of voters are being short sighted voting against inflation and cost of gas. If they manage to elect these Republicants it will affect all our lives for 4-6 years. You need to look beyond your bowl of Cheerios. GOP has no real solution to inflation just fear mongering. JMO

I really hope you don't believe it's that simple...because it definitely isn't. Well, it really kind of is. Democrats have a significant advantage in the number of voters registered. If the same percentage of voters registered for both parties came out to vote these elections wouldn't be the competitive, and the Democrats would own the House and Senate in perpetuity. But motivation, energizing the base, etc, is a big part of it, and the Republicans are really good at that while the Democrats aren't. Add to that the Gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics the Republicans use and the elections suddenly become compteitive or go their way.

It's just so much more complicated than what you think it is. Layers upon layers. That said, dropping mine off in the drop box in the rain after work.

Says pretty much all you need to know about the present day Dem party, Dem party leadership, and elected Dem priorities/actions. I'm one of those registered Dem voters. I beat the rain this morning to get to the polls, where I voted on the propositions (yes on prop 26 and prop 27!). The rest of my ballot was blank. I considered voting R but couldn't quite bring myself to actually do it.

Appears likely the Republicans will take the House, which was always the expectation. Gerrymandering of certain districts made their climb much easier to manage. Senate still very much up for grabs.

Early returns in the Arizona Senate are positive for Dems - Kelly has a sizable lead over Blake Masters, with 53% of Maricopa County in. Georgia's race was separated by less than 2,000 votes at last check.

Steve Kornacki: "We're hours in and the only gains Republicans have made so far are the seats drawn to give them gains." Meanwhile, Lauren Boebert is down early in Colorado.

One thing seems pretty clear thus far - The "red wave" that was seemingly all the rage in conservative outlets....isn't coming. Dems are outperforming Biden in several states right now.

Fetterman is outperforming Biden in 12 PA counties. Oz is floundering and it looks like a Dem sweep in PA is coming. Shapiro wins the governor race.

Democrats have won two districts where 538 had a > 80% Republican likelihood of victory. A Democratic House is still a possibility...
