Zeigler would probably enjoy the heck out of it if this meant the end to the Loyal and Donovan had no where to go in San Diego. He hasn’t been back on with Smith since the incident so I’m sure he’s still upset with Donovan. ROOMER has it that some MLS franchises have been looking at Donovan to take over managing an existing MLS team. He'll be fine no matter what happens. But...I do hope that the Loyal plays at Snapdragon, and he is still the manager at that time. Just for the comments afterward.

Your probably right but stadiums aren’t big money makers so if you have to give on that I don’t see the big deal. The best part of the former Q site is the ancillary land and revenue for generations. No one is putting their hand into that pot. We have some damn smart real estate people on our side now so I’m not worried. You may not have read the UT article yet. Below is a paragraph from that article. I've bolded part of it for you. "SDSU Athletic Director John David Wicker has said he would offer flexible financial terms, either as a traditional rental arrangement or an equity partnership where the MLS club would invest in the stadium and have access to more revenue streams from concessions, parking, advertising and ancillary events."
BYOC (bring your own canopy).

I should have stated that better, stadiums typically aren't good investments.

I should have stated that better, stadiums typically aren't good investments. These owners must see a business opportunity that I don’t. MLS clubs lose money. The majority of the owners in the MLS leverage the stadium site for other developments that create the cash flow. That opportunity is not ready available at the MV site. Maybe they want to join the private public consortium and get an ROI, but they could do that without spending $300M on MLS. Maybe it’s a vanity project, but not likely. There must be some angle that is not readily apparent. On an unrelated note. One of the public private agreements will finalized and out in front of the CSU Trustees.

I should have stated that better, stadiums typically aren't good investments. No question that stadiums aren't great investments. Also, no question that SDSU has some smart real estate people advising them. I understood your original post to say that the MLS wouldn't be getting any of the other income from the stadium. I wouldn't complain about them getting all the game day income from their event, if the lease was for enough.
I still never like to give up any ownership interest. Not a good move long term, IMO.

Oh, now you did it. You went and listed some foreign sounding names. The fear-based conspiracy mongers will be jumping all over this, eventually. If not on this board, somewhere else, no doubt. That’s a sad response. Perhaps, but I had a wry smile as I typed. It's how I cope with today's BS.

As soon as they are installed... disappointment over what canopies do / don't do will be the next great controversy on AM. For now, I think there are some who think that the entire stadium will be masked in glorious shade and on a 90 degree day their seats will feel like a cozy 78 degrees, and they will remain dry even during a tropical monsoon. That's worth more than just a "Like." I think your beers are too cold!

Crazy that 10-20 hospitalizations and 200 emergency calls, per Wicker, over the course of a few hours has turned into canopy jokes by homers who think Snapdragon is Valhalla and everyone that had heat stroke were BYU fans named Nancy. I won’t go check names bc it doesn’t matter, but I wonder if the same people whining about Malcolm playing in Russia because “government resources” or whatever are also those that don’t mind 7 SDFD engine companies and a battalion chief having to be on-site for a football game to provide medical aid. Hmm. Anyway, I don’t really care about canopies one way or the other and Snapdragon IS, in fact, Valhalla. But woof, we’ve memory-holed and minimized the UA game so quick. Not to mention all of the ambulances at Snapdragon from multiple companies that day. Just doing our part to help the local economy.

Can't see them spending prime $$ for prime land is sustainable for them even if there is no MlS.

The group chosen to redevelop that site (assuming the 30 foot height limit is removed) is not the group that was proposing a modular soccer stadium.
