Usually the media sensationalizes the news, making things seem worse than they actually are, this hurricane was as destructive as has been reported. This was a MAJOR storm event. Entire neighborhoods were simply erased by 120mph winds, which were sustained for 4 hours. 80% of the trees in my Dad’s neighborhood were blown over or broken off at the trunk, there are piles of debris everywhere. Most Floridians still don’t have power, assuming they still have a house. Many gas stations have no means (electricity) to pump gas and those who can have lines a half mile long. Supermarkets and food stores are barely operating. Many places are still flooded, bridges destroyed roads impassable. Ft. Myers, Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Boca Grande and dozens of other cities and towns were completely devastated. Instead of rooting for the destruction of Mar a Lago or other people you don’t like, how about some positive thoughts for a change? |
