I think it’s time for an updated bill of rights. These should all be codified into the bill of rights. Clarence Thomas said we should end these and throw them back to the states. He’s a clown. It’s unbelievable that we have to pass laws to protect these rights and the Republicans vote against these rights

Yeah, I don't get the need that most Republicans (especially Christian Republicans) feel to TAKE AWAY the rights of others.
As if these people are hurting them in some way. Come on! Live and let live. Be tolerant of others unless they are harming you in some tangible way.
This platform of hatred and inequality makes the Religious Right look like a bunch of Nazis. It really does. That card is overplayed, but in this case it's accurate.
"Judge not lest ye be judged!"
And, yeah, update the Bill of Rights to make sure that it applies to EVERYONE, evenly. Protecting rights is a lot more admirable than taking rights away!

I'm a Christian, and I believe that we should all have choices, as Jesus gave us that right. So, I believe that it all gets dealt with eventually, anyway.

Do you think abortion is birth control?

Some voters and jurists think the life of a human being is being terminated in an abortion, especially after the ability to survive outside the womb is upon them.
It used to be "reasonable people could reasonably disagree about abortion". When did it become that ONLY the rights of the mother is involved in an abortion?

Because it's nobody else's business? But, if you believe that abortion is murder, it should be everybody's business who believes that. Just because you believe something doesn't make it factually correct. Most people hundreds of years ago believed the world was flat. That was factually INcorrect. A fetus that isn't conscious yet isn't a person. It isn't viable on it's own. That IS factually correct. Telling people how to live on a matter of OPINION is wrong. It is the OPINION of some that abortion is murder (and, beyond a certain point in the development of the fetus/baby I'd agree with that), but before that point? It's totally OPINION. Basing law on religious based OPINION is the opposite of what the United States government (or any state government) is supposed to do. People who believe differently MUST have their rights protected. If they don't have their rights protected, how do you know that down the line YOUR rights won't be protected? If we can start making PRO religious laws (laws based on religious beliefs), then down the line others could make laws that are ANTI religious (infringing on religious freedoms that you enjoy today). We should ALL have our rights protected. PERIOD.

Your beliefs don't dictate other people's personal decisions and if you think they do, you're out of your mind. If my neighbor from two blocks down the street had an abortion, I'm not going to condemn her to hell. It's none of my damn business.

When I say their business, I'm saying they'll want to speak out against. They're opinion is that it's murder. Law, or no law, like I've said, I believe that it all gets judged when you die anyway, unless you repent. That's my belief.

Yeah, I actually think everyone knows the unborn are human beings, but many in our culture just don't care. Human nature hasn't changed. We discarded unwanted children in ancient times, and we do so in modern times. We are just better at it now. If you don't mind the profanity, Bill Burr just did a pretty funny routine on this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=35JbpRCoR44It's funny and sad and true.

As a matter of fact, we don't even know for sure that Jesus existed. Any quotes attributed to him are 3rd and 4th generation removed (the stories were told verbally for decades before they were written down and compiled). There is no God, my friend. If there were, he wouldn't be a petty, jealous, insecure, angry, bitter, vindictive, cruel God as he's painted in the Bible. Those are the worst of the human traits. God would have to be better than that. God has no place in law, that's for sure.

And quotes to him are not 3rd and 4th generation removed. But it doesn't mean that they are accurate. If you are interested, I could go back and hash all that out, but it will take me a lot of time and energy. And honestly, I'm not sure I'm up for it. I'm just saying... As far as God and law, I guess it depends on what you mean. Are we endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among those are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness? Do we actually have value? Can laws actually be Just? If so, where does that ultimate standard come from?
