Thoughts on the TV markets for PAC and BIG:
PAC has primary teams in most of their markets. Oregon and Oregon state dominate Oregon. Arizona and Arizona state dominate Arizona. Utah and Colorado, primary teams in Denver and salt lake. Cal and Stanford primary teams in Bay Area. Washington and Washington state rule Washington.
BIG 12, most major tv markets are in Texas. TCU is way behind Texas and A&M in DFW, Houston is at best a split market in Houston, Baylor, Texas tech are all small markets and secondary to Texas and A&M. Oklahoma state of a second fiddle to Oklahoma, Kansas is not a big market. Iowa state is secondary to Iowa. Central Florida is way behind Florida, Miami, Florida state in Florida. Cincinnati is secondary to Ohio state.
All these BIG 12 schools are no better off than San Diego state claiming the LA market.
From this perspective, PAC has a major advantage on importance within their TV markets.

He just rehashes what he has said previously. Key take away is that ESPN is calling the shots.

As the landscape is laid out today, there is no way for OSU or WSU to remain Power 5 teams, NO MATTER what they do. The only argument against this, that I can see, is it would set an uncomfortable precedent for schools like Vandy, Kansas and Indiana, and therefore they will put whatever influence they have within these conferences to try to ensure "no school gets left behind (that's already in the club)". There is certainly some validity to that position

SDSU should join with Arizona, ASU, and Colorado and solidify the western wing on the Big 12. Much more likely they would consider us now, due to the academic restrictions the Pac 12 has. WEST (8): SDSU, ZONA, ASU, COLO, BYU, TEXAS TECH, HOUSTON, TCU EAST (8): BAYLOR, OKLA ST, KANSAS, KSTATE, UCF, WV, IOWA ST, CINCY Why are you pushing the BIG12 angle so hard? Personally I'd much rather be in the PAC12. I am not pushing joining the Big 12 over the PAC. I would much rather us (and most likely SMU) being invited to the PAC, as we are currently their best two options, but everything I have read coming from the PAC and their schools shows they do not want to do this, if all 10 teams stay. At least the Big 12 has interest in us.

Houston is a very strong school that could add value to any conference it would like to go into - TV Viewers are most important In addition for recruiting it adds to most conferences - Would say Houston would be the key for any Conference and if the PAC can get it away from Big 12 makes it a solid Conference and hurts the Big 12
IMO other schools may draw their local area TV viewers in Texas but think most others would go for Longhorns - other then the Houston area especially if it is a Power Conference School .
Ducks seem to rule in Oregon and they do not have to compete with an NFL team
For those who know the area - major city is Kansas City - is that split with part in MO and the other in Kansas .
So are there more fans for MIZZU , Kansas or K-State

The VERY frustrating dynamic is that--and we all know it-- while we are straining and struggling how to create the "perfect" conference that would include us as a new Power member, THEY (Big 12 and Pac) are leaning even harder to PREVENT that from happening.

Strongest play for the PAC, by a large margin, is adding SDSU, UNLV, Houston, and TCU. Gets the two best markets close to LA and hurts the BigXII by taking their best Texas teams.
$$ would be much better and level of competition a notch (or more) better... and *much* stronger academics.

A lot of schools in those conferences realize that SDSU would be much much much more attractive to recruits than their school if they added us, so they will only add us if it prevents the conference from folding.
This is why we need the Big 10 to take Oregon and Washington ASAP.

I don't see any practical inducement that the Pac could offer that would attract any high caliber Texas schools to come West. Too different culturally, and two different time zones. Yes TCU was with us before, but times and culture have diverged greatly since then. In addition, would our Governor even allow us to "consort" with "those" folks? Would there not be a political proscription blocking such an alignment?

It seems pretty clear now that if the PAC 12 expands and takes a G5 school SDSU is the number one choice. That’s all you can ask for at this moment.

They've (the Pac remnants) already been dropped into the bubbling cauldron of the "Great Unwashed" stew. Like the frog, they just don't know it yet.

Phil Knight already making calls to find a home for his Ducks Phil knight can offer to give free blow jobs. Right now, the big 10 is lukewarm on accepting anymore west coast schools. You can only give out so many swag bags before people stop caring.

Little Doubt the BIG is waiting for N.D to make a decision
But a back to the Big 10 with East and West might be their new slogan
Also a Thought add Houston
although if PAC could get Houston from the Big 12 gets them into Texas for recruiting and major TV viewers that the Networks would value

Not sure why so many posters mention B12 schools as possible add-ons for the PAC. No way Houston or BYU, or any other B12 school, would skip the B12 to go to the insecure arrangement known as the PAC. With Oregon and Washington, and the AZ, Utah, Col., group, all having one foot out the door, the only schools the PAC could attract at this time would be G5 schools looking to elevate to P5, however short it may last.
