I think that it's really difficult in America for a third party to gain traction (because of the way that our voting system works) Having ranked voting (where you can rank your choices 1, 2, 3) allow you to rank your preferred candidate #1, even if they are in a minority party that stands little chance of winning, because your #2 vote for one of the primary parties will still count. People don't research third parties (and the media doesn't cover them either) because nobody want to vote for them and have their vote not count. In other countries, you can vote for a party for legislature and the number of legislators that each party gets is dependent upon the number of votes they get. In such a system I would likely vote third party for the legislature, because even if that party only gets 5% of the vote they still get representation. |

Oh, how about this. This is right out of the 1930's early Nazi Party playbook.
Disney had a special arrangement with the State of Florida to govern the district that the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc, are located in. Disney would govern it, PAY for all of the infrastructure, pay all the, "Government," employees there, etc, in return for special consideration.
Florida's Republicans were perfectly fine with that. Republicans LOVE outsourcing things to the private sector, right?
They sure do - until they're crossed. As soon as Disney balked at Florida's anti-gay laws Governor Ron DeSantis went after Disney. First, he took away their special district (not realizing what a mess that will be for the local counties in that area that suddenly have to pay tens, maybe HUNDREDS of millions of dollars each now for infrastructure, wages, etc). Then, after realizing how bad that would be for those counties, he has now proposed the STATE itself run that area and impose new, harsher regulations on Disney.
Just because they publicly opposed his law and criticized him. It's retaliation.
But they're not done yet. Josh Hawley, a real piece of $#!+, proposed a new bill in the U.S. Senate to take away copyright protection that benefits Disney, putting many of their works in the public domain. Of course, this will also hurt other movie studios, but - collateral damage. Can't be helped.
So it's fall in line with the Republicans or face their wrath and have your business hurt.
Sounds a lot like Putinesque stuff. Totalitarian bully regime stuff.
