Kendric Davis is going to have his choice of options. He’s one of the best point guards in all of college basketball, while I’d love to have him it isn't realistic

Strange choice for Quintana if true. He could play for his hometown team, sees like he would fill our need, This week Cal Baptist University signed three players: 1. Jackson Harding 6'7 SF from Australia CBU moved from DII (PacWest) to DI (WAC) 5 seasons ago, looking to make a move up in the WAC, that has been adding & subtracting schools. Schools Moving out: NMSU & Sam Houston (CUSA) and Lamar (Southland) Future League/Schools: Abilene Christian, Cal Baptist, Grand Canyon, Incarnate Word, Seattle, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State), Utah Valley

AAC player of the year Kendra Davis entered the transfer portal - was with SMU team - that played against Houston and Memphis 19 points , 4 rebounds , 4.5 assists 37 % Threes scored 20 + points 15 times . The only player to lead their conference in scoring and assists . Played at TCU with Ledee and is from Houston area Is leaving SMU - as they have replaced their coach Davis is not linked to the Aztecs, but this was in the Dallas papers today. "Davis is contemplating pursuing a professional career after earning American Athletic Conference player of the year honors, but is leaving all options on the table. Those options include returning to SMU for a super senior season or landing at another school such as TCU. Programs such as Houston and Memphis are also reportedly expected to be in the mix." would hope that Ledee contacts him and Winston - both from the Houston area and Ledee played with him
players do value and think in many cases believe former or current players more then coaches
There are numerous P6 schools so it is a tough recruit to get him but well worth the effort
In the article it says SMU is also an option - he is leaving there so is it saying he is open to going back there ?

Stan, that article is from 2019 when he left TCU and before he transferred to SMU. Hopefully, he wants to follow the Malachi Flynn route for one great year before he heads to the NBA

My misread -
Do know he is in the Portal and would be a great addition for the Aztecs
Key of course would be IF Ledee , Winston and Malachi did put in a good call to him

We already have a transfer PG coming in, I highly doubt we bring in another one... targets now are SG/SF and C (if Mensah leaves).

He’s one of the best point guards in all of college basketball, while I’d love to have him it isn't realistic Agreed, I haven't seen much reported on him yet, but seems like he could have a professional career overseas right away, or be a HIGH major type guy. Arkansas comes to mind, simply because of the success Musselman has had with older imports the last few years, even though I don't know what they are or aren't returning at guard. Also wouldn't surprise me to see the Duke's, Kentucky's, Villanova's of the world show interest.

Kendric was voted the top player in the AAC over some very good players from Houston and Memphis
He entered the portal and If there is a connection with Ledee then it would be a very important player to try to sign if the Aztecs are truly trying to get a decent run in MM

While we should try, he’s considered to arguably be the top player now in the portal. He will likely be offered by many blue chip programs, he will want to go somewhere that can practically guarantee a trip to the tournament… as he’s never been. Of course, with him, we’d be almost a lock to get back into March Madness. Plus adding him would be redundant with our recent PG transfer addition. Crowded backcourt if we landed him. But you can never have too much talent.

I'm a firm believer in "you can never have too many PGs" but I have to think that with Trammell on board, we're really not looking to bring in another PG unless it's one who is move of a combo guard with some height and light-out 3-pt shooting... basically the SG we're still in the market for.

We haven't been linked to Davis in over 3 years? And Ledee didn't play with Davis ... Ledee was at Ohio State when Davis played at TCU, so they probably don't even know each other. What about Johni Broome 6'10 235 PF from Morehead St avg 17/10 and 4 blocks or Ken Loften Jr 6'7 275 avg 17/10 ... either of those guys would be the perfect compliment to Ledee. If we're gonna talk about players that aren't linked to us then at least lets talk about most urgent positions of need.

I'm gonna hang back, chill and wait to hear something from the Coaches. I for one think they know what they are doing and have confidence they will continue to make the team competitive.
