We already have a transfer PG coming in, I highly doubt we bring in another one... targets now are SG/SF and C (if Mensah leaves). After listing to Zeigler on 1360, it sounds like were looking for a SG 6'3' to 6'5" who shoots close to 40% behind the arc. In a guard heavy league, we may look for two. The Aztecs are firm on bigs if Nate stays, and it sounds like he may come back after thinking through all options. Dont forget AG, who also sounds like he will come back and play 8 to 10 minutes a half when he is healthy. Aztecs are high on LeDee, D. Johnson Jr, K. Johnson's improvement plus HS'er Saunders who comes in at 6'8" 240. So if Nate & AG stay, we're not shopping for post players.

We haven't been linked to Davis in over 3 years? And Ledee didn't play with Davis ... Ledee was at Ohio State when Davis played at TCU, so they probably don't even know each other. What about Johni Broome 6'10 235 PF from Morehead St avg 17/10 and 4 blocks or Ken Loften Jr 6'7 275 avg 17/10 ... either of those guys would be the perfect compliment to Ledee. If we're gonna talk about players that aren't linked to us then at least lets talk about most urgent positions of need. Both of those guys will go to P6 schools. If Nate's back, bigs are off the table.

Nathan still has some work to do on his game. His passing, mid range shot and ability to play defense without getting into foul trouble are things which need some improvement. Fix those things and Nathan could find his way on to an NBA roster.
We’ll see what he decides, next years team should be formidable, especially if he is in the post.

Nathan isn't a future NBA player ... not even close. But I think he's hoping to make money professionally outside the US and probably considering if another year in college will even improve his value. If his pro window is only 5-8 years and another year in college only shortens that window, does the 'college experience' & memories outweigh the money lost/risk of injury. Don't forget this is a guy who already missed almost an entire year due to health issues.

As mentioned Nathan's health is quite important part of his decision . Do not know what kind of Health Coverage there is for players , playing over seas .
Nathan knows the current doctors he has while a student at SDSU . Not sure if he could also be working on a Masters Degree this season that can also be quite valuable in the future .
Yes he could use the extra year to work on offense , passing and even defense - he has spent a lot of time on the bench after getting his second foul and near end of the season fouling out of games .
Yes if he and the family need money and quickly that is important . Could the JAM group work on getting some NIL money . Realize it is not as much as playing Pro but could help
Important now is for Nathan to make a decision so he and the staff can move forward .

Doesn't sound like Zeigler, USC or SDSU think that Ethan Anderson is better than Darrion Trammell. I guess Stan is just a better college basketball talent evaluator than them.

Blast from the not too distant past, the long, athletic 6'10 215 lb post-player Frank Anselem from Syracuse is in the portal, has a visit/interest in UGA. 3 years ago, it was said that his choice was between 'Cuse and the Aztecs. Now Frank is moving on.

I believe there is a limit of 5 visits and Warren has listed 4.

It may have to do with workouts conflicting with Stan's afternoon naps and also it would cut into Stan being able to post all his AztecMesa inquires. We love you Stan but if the team needs you we'll understand if you don't put out as many posts, maybe they bring you and Gundo in as a tag team.

I listened to Zeigler 's interview and concur that D.T did his homework presenting to the Aztec Coaches / and Zeigler that he could be a good part of the team . Must admit after having a couple of under sized guards has left me wondering how D.T . will do
I hope he does well and see him and Lamont alternating at the PG position .
I did not hear any bad comments about Anderson at USC in the interview . Did read some articles that stated that he was a two time captain at USC - was a team leader both on an off the court - he was injured at times but played fairly well on defense . He also helped the team's comeback in their MM game . Would guess that Zeigler and the coaches may have contacted the former Aztec coach Jay Morris but do not know .
Do find it interesting that the Aztecs are still looking for a taller guard that can score - that could enable Matt to play the 3 or the 2 . Or the taller guard .
Agree that when you get to the 3 game MW T , MM and even the up coming Maui T - with a very talented group of 8 teams - you need your starters and quality reserves to play solid defense for 40 , be able to break the press
A full team of 10 + players is needed .

Another blast from the past in the portal. This from Aztecs Sports Report 2017. sandiegostate.rivals.com/news/sdsu-to-have-2018-pf-andre-kelly-in-for-a-visit. Andre Kelly is a 6'9 225 PF from Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln HS. Its the same school that Miles Byrd played at, but I doubt their years overlapped. Kelly is the type of athletic big that SDSU has sought after over the past several years, so the interest is definitely mutual.
“SDSU wants me to come out for a visit and I would love to go do that,” he said. “It’s a good school and they’re in a competitive league. My parents and friends would be able to see me play so there’s a lot of good things about it. The coaching staff is really good too.
“I talk with the assistants a lot and they want to see me in the next live period. The head coach wants to come see me. My coach tells me more schools want to watch me in the summer before they go further. So San Diego State is one of them, and then some more from the Pac-12.” And then he chose CAL along with Matt Bradley.

Good find, Gundo! I think Matt is our greatest on-court leader of all time and we've had some good ones. So I expect him to do some work on finding a good big he can play with. This would align nicely with that theory - but not sure he gets those minutes unless Mensah is out AND Warren Washington goes elsewhere. Ledee fills that role.

I would assume that the only way he comes here is if either Nate or AG aren't coming back. But would this kid's size put him at the 5? I thought they wanted LeDee at the 4. It seems like a foregone conclusion that they would use that last scholarship on a tall shooting guard.

We have Tomaic, Diabate, Arop, and Mensah's foul trouble minutes open. Ledee can't take all those and Keshad would take some additional mins. In the event of an injury we'd have to rely heavily on Demarshay and our incoming freshman (forget his name). So I'm thinking we could use a big.
