Going to the game tonight and wanted to get any tips from those who went last week. I've already setup my vaccination records through the "My Bindle" app, so really just wanting to get a sense how long it takes to get inside, since I've heard it takes a while with the new protocols. If so, are we talking an hour to get in? 30 minutes? Has anyone heard if a particular entrance was pretty than the rest? Any and all tips would be welcome!

I arrived about 6:15pm, went to the southeast (student) entrance, there was 2 lines (Brindle & other). I had my card so went to the other, showed the security guy my ID & vax card, then proceeded to the metal detector, then to the gate where they scanned my ticket, took maybe 5 minutes. Emptying my pockets for the detector took just as long or longer than the vax check. I suspect those that had issues showed up much closer to tip-off or didn't have the stuff ready to go.

How were the lines and entrance setup last night? Major issues or fairly smooth sailing getting in?

Here were the lines and entrance setup last night? Major issues or fairly smooth sailing getting in? I was there 1/2 hr before game and seemed to go smoothly. I just showed proof at security check in, and the ticket at gate so, no big deal last night.

Here were the lines and entrance setup last night? Major issues or fairly smooth sailing getting in? I thought it was a very smooth process! They had 3 lines, one at the front entrance, one on the side (right by frat row) and then a separate student section entrance (on the backside of Viejas). For each entrance they had two lines, one for those who setup the My Bindle app with a digital vaccination record and one for those who didn't and had to show either their vaccination card or a negative test result. I setup My Bindle ahead of time and that line definitely moved quicker than the other line. The My Bindle set up process is a little confusing, but GoAztecs.com has step-by-step directions that makes it easier to follow. You just have to spend like 10 minutes reading it over, getting your state of CA vaccination QR code and making sure you've done all the steps. All-in-all, we got in line 30 minutes to tip and were in our seats within 10 minutes. I think the largest flow of the crowd came in after us, so I'd plan for the process to take anywhere from 10-30 minutes depending on when you get there and if you setup My Bindle ahead of time.

I didn't use Bindle or the other app...I just took a picture of my vaccination card on my phone...and showed my CDL...the process was actually faster than getting through the ticket gate.....

Was smooth for us too. Went to epic wings for chicken fries and beers... reached the line 15 minutes to 7pm. We are in our seats just before the anthem and intros. No Bindle app... we just took pics of our Vaccine cards with our phones. I pulled out my Red ID instead of my drivers license, but they accepted it. My brother-in-law took a pic of his ticket from my phone, and it was able to scan. Same experience for the St Katherines game too. They didn't seem to care that I didn't install the Bindle app.

The opponent was Gardner-Webb for UNLV's home opener and the attendance was only 4,962 after UNLV introduced a vaccinated only or test entrance policy. Attendance of 7,103 for Reno's game with Eastern Washington with the same policy. Fresno attendance for Fresno Pacific was 2,820. SDSU had 11,729 but that was paid tickets and not in house numbers as there were empty seats all over Viejas Arena. This policy is a failure.

Sounds like it worked just fine for the folks who showed up at Viejas. I'd say the "failure" is on those who had tickets but decided not to attend.

Student section was packed. I’ve seen smaller crowds pre-Covid. There were scattered empty seats not “all over.”

Went through the entrance near Storm Hall (the parking structure with like 10 floors). Got there about 35 mins before tipoff. No lines at all. A quick 10 second show of my card and we were off!
The problem though as mentioned in the food thread was not enough food options. Yes I know 1st world problems huh lol. Bring back Belinda's!

After expressing a lot of concerns last week and having problems when my wife's cell phone locked up and I had to go back to the car to get her driver license and vax card, this game went very smoothly. Paper tickets are sill easier IMO, but the new system seems to work well.
I still don't understand why we need metal detectors this year. What happened for the administration to become worried about someone bringing a weapon.

I can't remember the last time I've been to an arena or stadium and *didn't* go through a metal detector...

I can't remember the last time I've been to an arena or stadium and *didn't* go through a metal detector... I haven't been to an arena or stadium that wasn't for an Aztec game in a very long time. But we didn't have to go through metal detectors for Aztec basketball games at Viejas in 2020 or in Qualcom for Aztec football games in 2019, the last times we were allowed into an Aztec game in San Diego. So, for me, it's a new requirement.

Deciding not to attend because of work and ticket holders being banned from attending because of a medical decision only are two different things. My comment above was to get the schools to allow all ticket holders to attend games and cancel this policy that is hurting in-person attendance. I looked at the game photos and saw some of the empty seats. The Fremont Street Experience in Vegas allows anyone to attend vaccinated or not vaccinated. It was wall-to-wall people on the First Friday in October.

I just know I've never had to go through metal detectors for any Aztec event before this year's basketball games. It' just another delay and anoyance. Only two games this year and I've almost left my keys behind once.
Do they have metal detectors for Aztec football in Carson?

There were no more empty seats this season than any game two any other season...also...once inside...mask were optional...a lot of people had them on...and a lot had them off...nobody tripped...all in attendance were reassured that the person sitting next...above...and below were less likely to kill them than a vaccinated-optional attendance...that's why everyone was relaxed and enjoyed the game....
