I wouldn't change my position if the mortality from COVID was 99% because, again, I believe an individual has a right to determine what goes in their body, and are in any case the most incentivized to secure their own survival. The higher the mortality, the more likely individuals would decide to get the vaccine, however experimental or dangerous it may be. You wouldn't need a federal mandate. Fortunately, the real mortality rate of COVID is more like <.02% if you trust the official statistics (which are almost certainly grossly inflated due to perverse reporting incentives). As a factual matter, thousands of people have died from the vaccine. Roughly 18,000 to be exact. I refer you to the official VAERS data: openvaers.com/covid-data. Note that this is likely a small fraction (<5%) of the actual figures since most cases go unreported. well, even 20% sends us back to the stone age..so you wouldn't have to worry about it. So how come no NBA, NFL or MLB dead?? how come nobody I, or any of my many friends, know ...dead? My friend's friend's Mom died from blood clotting due to the vaccine. I had chest pain for several days after getting vaccinated, and I had SVT three weeks after getting vaccinated (for reference I'm in my 30's, healthy, used to exercise 4x a week before being vaccinated). I have not been able to do moderate exercise without chest pain since being vaccinated.

According to Politico, over 100 marines were just kicked out of the service for refusing a covid vaccine, to go along with over 4,000 army soldiers and six army commanding officers.
Now, vax mandate crowd - Are these guys dumber than you? Are they more susceptible to propaganda and in need of fact checkers? Should they not be able to get a job after getting discharged?

Just watched Netflix's "Don't Look Up"...it shows the lunacy and manipulation of an event detrimental to mankind...I'm sure they made it with Covid in mind....

It was about climate change, not covid. Like, that's not an opinion, it's from the people that wrote the movie. Also, you left out the part where they realize they were wrong and instead of fixing the issue when they could have, instead farmed it out to the tech overlord and promised jobs and universal wealth that would eradicate poverty, homelessness, world hunger, etc. Who does that sound like?

I know what they say it was about...but am saying it’s parallel to what Trump and the right spew...when Trump realized the virus wasn’t going away...he farmed it out to tech overloads I.e. Ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and bleach to cure the problem...therefore no need to worry...go to work and live your life as normal...all to protect his best interests...just like the rich guy...and just like the rich guy...Trump bailed when it didn’t work...left death and destruction in his afterburner....

I know you and I agree on a lot of stuff, and all I’ll say here is that we are past being able to blame this on Trump. Yea, he failed. Uncle Joe is failing, arguably worse (though that pretty much depends on the virus, which we can’t really control?). Literally every government on earth that I’m aware of is failing. The health orgs haven’t had much turnover between Admins that I’m aware of - they are failing the worst. Rich guy? Speaker of the House is worth a quarter bill on a government salary and spends her time quoting Wakanda and singing Lin Manuel songs… quite literally what happened in Dont Look Up.

I couldn't make it through 30 mins, not because the film wasn't well done, but rather, "I've lived this over the past two years, I don't need to live it again." Regardless of the filmmakers intent, it makes for an equally apt parable of Trump's handling of CV19.

I’ll say to you what I said to bnasty- you and I agree on most, if not all, political stuff. Or have for many years, anyway. I do not believe that a planet killing comet is in any way comparable to COVID. I just don’t see how one comes to that conclusion. If it was like NYC in March-May 2020 (which I lived through) countrywide/worldwide, THEN maybe? Maybe. But, it just… isn’t. It’s a dangerous flu that is becoming much less dangerous each passing month, that never had a fatality rate over 2%. And that isn’t even speaking to fatality rates for healthy/young folks. A planet killing comet ends all life on earth!

Good points made, but then you turn around make me question your sanity, it's as if you were on another planet during 2000. Obviously Joe/fed/state govts are making mistakes, hard to argue otherwise with this new wave - but to posit that anything is arguably worse than the idiocracy/wackadoodle of Trump's handling takes some serious mental gymnastics.

Biden is doing everything he can to alleviate the situation...it's tough-uphill sledding against a whole political party and 40 percent of the nation willfully ignoring his efforts...the only reason why there is a surge is because America is a petri dish of right-wing dissent...if we could cut off Republican states...we would be doing fine as a nation...the problem is for selfish and self-serving reason...there are those who doing everything in their power...who are using the gullible/ignorant...who want Biden to fail...and they're hellbent on keeping America sick...and there are those who willingly comply...it doesn't matter if they can see their own demise (comet) coming.....

This is to you and bnasty above. I am not going to quote case/hospital/death totals, because I don't believe a president really has much impact one way or the other on that. But using cases, I'm quite sure we lapped 2020 in like the last 4 weeks. To bnasty's point about states - I also don't believe that matters much, because there isn't any correlation between mandates, masking, etc and case counts, it's cyclical and seasonal, just like the flu. The correlation is much higher to weather. But using those metrics, compare case increases in Idaho, Arizona, Florida - whichever red state you prefer - to New York, DC, California etc... There is no difference. I know a lot of people want it to be true, but it just isn't I think Joe is doing worse because of policy he can control. Democrats currently have both houses of congress and the white house. You know what we had under one president that the other has ended? Eviction moratoriums, supplemented UI, higher child tax credits, student loan payment moratorium, direct stimulus payments... shall I go on? Even the CDC under Biden has told sick people to go back to work, because according to Fauci, if people are out of work for two weeks, the economy would stop functioning. So after 5 days from symptom onset, you have to go back to work? How is that following the science? It's not.

I read a report saying 60% of repubs unvax whereas 17% of Dems are unvax. You think Biden can control Fox News? He is fighting a battle he can't win. We have lawyers arguing against mask mandates via zoom. Put it this way, you want to argue we all should have body autonomy and personal freedom then you can't criticize the man because his mask mandates and booster mandates fell on dear ears. Other countries have figured it out. We haven't. Hong Kong running seven day average of covid cases is like 20. USA is 600,000. If the right wants freedom to do as they please they can't blame Biden for the surge.

Sir. You think Biden is doing worse because of policy he can control. I psotted he is not in control of the reasons for our surge. He is trying to get the right to agree to mandates and they will not have it. So I again say, you can't say Joe is doing worse if it is the Fox led right ignoring or not complying with his wishes.

Reread my psot. It says the same thing you’re saying. (Well, mandates don’t work so I didn’t say that…) We’re talking about policies that are directly under his (via EO) or Democrats (via lege) control here. Don’t give af about whatever you want to mandate on people, I’m speaking to policies that actually helped people, instituted under the last president, ended under this one.

(Well, mandates don’t work so I didn’t say that…) Mandated masking and mandated vaccination/boost will help. Why are countries like Japan, Philippines or Hong Kong not seeing nearly the surge in cases under Omicron as us? We have a larger portion of society that doesn't want to vax or mask. That's not on Biden.
