The COVID vaccine does not protect communities of people in the same way that other vaccines in the past did. If the vaccine is only protecting the recipient of the vaccine, then there is no social value that the vaccine is providing to other people (other then reducing the strain on the healthcare system). If the vaccine is providing no group value, then why is it being mandated? |

Mandates have eradicated measles, mumps, and rubella for the most part. How is that bad? The war on covid is going to be exactly like the war on drugs or the war in afghanistan... 20 year losers. Covid is here, and it isn't going anywhere, it is endemic. Australia is a great example of how enforced lockdowns don't work. City to city/state to state comparisons in the US are great examples of how mask mandates don't really help. Israel is a great example of how the world's highest vaccination rates don't really get a population to where they thought they'd be, with some added info on how vaccine passports can be used to restrict freedoms at the drop of a hat based on medical decisions. Us liberals are supposed to be pro-choice, right? Like... we're pro-choice because a woman's body is her own and she has autonomy? I mean, that's what I believe in. I have yet to be convinced how this is different. And does the vaccine work, or not? Because if it does, why does it matter to me or you whether someone else gets it? And if it doesn't, why in hell are we mandating people take it? And okay... say we concede everything else... My earnest question is how many boosters do we allow the government to mandate on us? Endless? Like, are we signing up for this for life? I'd like someone to tell me what infection rate, what death number or case count, SOME METRIC that we can hit to remove these restrictions we are willingly handing over to the government. The leftists that don't understand this is the Patriot Act all over again but on steroids and in physical form boggle my mind. The only argument I've heard that holds weight is overcrowded hospitals. Except, I haven't seen it happen once. I've seen moaning about the possibility, but never the actuality. In fact, the situation is so dire in New York that they were able to fire the front line heros for not getting the vaccine? All I need to know about the seriousness of the pandemic at this point is Newsom at Laundry, Breed firing City workers the same day she's drunk dancing in a bar, and Obama cutting his Martha's Vineyard party from 250 to 180. What world am I living in where we are allowing vast swaths of people to lose their freedoms and livelihoods over a medical decision? We are signing ourselves up for a two-tiered society. These mandates oddly enough have great carveouts for the strongest unions and biggest donors and congressional staffs. I mean, cheers to the unions for doing their jobs, but jesus. I'm really big on following the science, but the liberals in charge left the science in the dust about a year ago. Exactly, its going to be get a booster shot every two years or something nonsensical like that. I got vaccinated in April. I've had health issues ever since. A friend of a friend's mom died from blood clots from the vaccine. This vaccine is not the same as the vaccines of old for conditions like Measles, Rubella, Smallpox. It has harmful side effects. It's wrong to force people to make medical decisions by government mandate, especially if the mandated activity causes medical harm. The media is covering up the side effects, and people that speak out are being silenced on social media. My posts were taken down from a Facebook group thread on Facebook because the moderator though that I was 'lying' about my experience with the vaccine. Oh and he also decided to take down my posts about the morality surrounding vaccinations, especially when they don't slow the spread of COVID. Really sick of the amount of brainwashing and closemindedness going on in the liberal community right now regarding vaccines, and I'm saying this as a liberal myself. |

Again, why would NBA, NFL and MLB vaccinate their stars worth millions if they could get harmed from it? Show me one example of a player who's game has obviously been affected? I bet most (if not all) the Aztecs have been vaxed and they seem to be doing ok. On a side note, my 64 year old sister got a breakthrough case (2 Phizer) ..and she is in a hospital in arizona. So the vaccine is not 100%... but might be 90% which is better than 0. She has also learned in the hospital, that breakthrough cases are rebounding (in general) much better than unvaxed. If my sister was not vaxed, I'm not sure she wouldn't be a mortality statistic. |

But what I'm also saying is that if: a. The vaccine has been proven to not reduce community spread (aka it doesn't benefit people other then yourself to get vaccinated) b. Some people are harmed by being vaccinated Then c. It should be a person decision to become vaccinated, not one mandated by the government. Even if the vaccine was 100% safe (which it's not, there is documented medical evidence that it's causes myocarditis in certain groups of people, and the side effects have (clearly) not been fully documented and studied, as evidenced by people that I know who've had long term medical impacts from the vaccine), point a that I made above would make getting vaccinated akin to wearing a seatbelt more then anything else - its only helping yourself.But point a in combination with point b makes me believe that it 100% should be a personal decision. Furthermore, the vaccine may be doing much more harm then good in children, where death rates from COVID are incredibly low (but the potential for myocarditis in the Pfizer vaccine is the reason why it hasn't been approved for children ages 12-17). So this idea that California is going to mandate vaccination of children for public school is absolute madness in that context.Literally causing more harm then good. Which completely goes against the principles of medicine: "The physician must be able to tell the antecedents, know the present, and foretell the future — must mediate these things, and have two special objects in view with regard to disease, namely, to do good or to do no harm." |
