Long-time Hawaii football broadcaster Robert Kekaula has suddenly died. No cause of death announced. I send my condolences. An autopsy and investigation into his death is mandatory since he was a public figure. If he was vaccinated, this could be a covid vaccine death. News articles on his death did not report if he was vaccinated or not.

My brother has lived in the islands for 30-years and Robert Kekaula was a legend. Condolences to his family, and RIP.

He was great! There were many Aztec football (and basketball, if memory serves) where we got his feed. Seemed like a really sweet man. He was definitely a homer, but always offered high praise for the opponents throughout a contest.
If memory serves, the original incarnation of Prime Ticket up in L.A. took up UH football feeds and it was always like the nightcap after gorging yourself the previous twelve hours from 9 a.m. You could just fall asleep on your sofa watching UH football.

Vaccinated or not he could have died from any number of causes that have nothing to do with Covid. |

What we know, is that we, and especially Hawaii, lost a colorful sports announcer. Robert Kekaula was 56 at the time of his death. If an autopsy is ordered, it is not because he is a public figure, it will be because he died while not being under a doctors care. |

I saw this the other day. I really enjoyed his work. He had that distinctive but warm voice and was more knowledgeable about the teams than most network announcers.

Oh no. Major bummer. He was my favorite broadcaster. Knowledgeable, and funny. He always said that Faulk was the best college player that he ever saw play.

Sad news - he was fun to listen to (& reminded me of those 2 brothers doing the beer commercial).
But have to agree the last 2 sentences ruin the post. Why even bring it that into the equation? Hawaii has a 1.1% positivity rate & averages 1 death per day (or less) across ALL islands.

So sad. Listening to him broadcast games was like listening to a family member, so comfortable to listen to. He will be missed by many

May I suggest a shutdown of this thread, Mr./Ms. Moderator? It has clearly gone the route of the cuckoo clock.
Perhaps someone can start a more respectful/rational thread on the unfortunate passing of Mr. Kekaula in another thread.
