Can’t understand how the team isn’t 100% vaccinated. All the local pharmacies have it.

Those vaccinated can still catch the bug. It's not a bubble. Hopefully Taty was vaccinated and whatever case that develops is very minor. And another reason that folks in tight quarters need to continue protecting themselves with masks, distancing, and hand washing.
It ain't over even if the fat lady sings…
It'll be fun to see what the three who get brought up can do while they're here. Tonight they haven't done bad at all.

Can’t understand how the team isn’t 100% vaccinated. All the local pharmacies have it. Because A) It's the choice of the player and B) The Padres are still short of the 85% threshold that MLB is instituting. There's some hope that it might be a false positive, but that's yet to be determined.

Add Wil Myers and Eric Hosmer to the list - Myers is positive and Hosmer is out for contact tracing purposes.

The lineup is now being absolutely decimated due to COVID and contact tracing. Yikes.....

Was listening to 97.3 pregame yesterday and according to them it's players' discretion - couldn't believe it, I thought for sure the entire team would be vaxed by now. Just like the anti-vaxers here, I guess some peeps have to learn the hard way before trusting science.

Being vaccinated doesn't guarantee anything unfortunately.

Yes, but again there are players who have been vaccinated but still tested positive. You can't force someone to get vaccinated, especially when those who have (like Paddack) have still tested positive. Most these guys didn't test positive last summer when it was worse nationally, so I get how they may not feel the need to have the shot now. Ideally they all would during spring training, but it's up to them. Were most of them even eligible in Feb/March? Now you have to have an off day, then the same 3 weeks later & hope you don't have a negative reaction or you're taking yourself out of the game without even a positive test. Lot of factors involved.

Of course you can't force anyone, but if I'm in a profession where I'm forced to be in close proximity with my co-workers and traveling half the time, I'm doing everything in my power to avoid getting this virus - and experts agree the #1 prophylactic at this point is getting the vaccine. Seems idiotic and selfish for these players and coaches not to get it at this point when it's readily available. And yes, you might miss a game or two due to side-effects - but isn't that better than your superstars concurrently going on the IL for days?

I get what you're saying but Paddack had the vaccine and it didn't keep him from testing positive and the same for the Yankee coaches and others.
