All of the Las Vegas press and Twitter. www.reviewjournal.com/sports/unlv/unlv-basketball/unlv-coach-t-j-otzelberger-headed-for-iowa-state-2305680/The past two seasons, Iowa State was a combined 14-42 overall and 5-31 in the Big 12. This year 2-22 and 0-18 in the league. Otzelberger did sign a talented recruiting class that included former Bishop Gorman point guard Zaon Collins and four-star wing Arthur Kaluma. UNLV dropped the 4-star Collins after a fatal car crash, and alleged DUI. Kaluma is a top 50 player with Syracuse, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Texas, Arkansas, Southern California, Texas A&M and Kansas were his other finalists.

Ouch!
Already lost Zaon Collins (at least for next year and probably for good)... is Kaluma next (or Bryce Hamilton)?

The Show always something to say. Typically, right on even though the truth hurts. Sorry Rebs, another year of looking to the past and not the future.

He couldn't beat the Aztecs so he has to get out while he is still in demand and valued. Besides, he will probably get a much nicer pay raise. Not sure of his affiliation with Iowa State so I need to look it up. It will be interesting to see what he can do there. The good news is he can only improve and make the program better as they seem to have hit rock bottom.

Too bad for UNLV. The conference needs the Rebels to be good in hoops, or anything for that matter.

Word is UNLV asked him to move on because their fans feel they can land Roy Williams.

It's no surprise Steve Prohm is out - he ran that program into the ground after Fred Hoiberg left for the NBA. Otzelberger was Fred Hoiberg's top assistant and recruiter. Otzelberger left for South Dakota State after Prohm was hired. Many Cyclone fans wanted Otzelberger to take over for Hoiberg, and now they get their wish.

The good news for UNLV is that they can start their hire early and will have a pretty full cycle to land a new coach.

Wow, UNLV is starting to look like a clusterf**k. I'm not sure any decent coach would consider it to be a good gig.

Would like to see UNLV really make an effort to land a top quality coach and put (legal) resources behind program. As many have said UNLV is our natural partner to be picked up in Conference realignment.

The good news for UNLV is that they can start their hire early and will have a pretty full cycle to land a new coach. They have actually done a good job with identifying good coaches the last couple of times. I think they have a good eye for coaching talent. Unfortunately, Chris and TJ found greener pastures at other bigger schools. I agree with the other psoter they need to put some language in the contract stipulating the coach is there for a minimum 3-4 years or incur heavy penalties (John Wick reference).

Following the MWC year after year, you tend to at least keep an eye on UNLV. From following the Vegas college basketball media over time, I was under the impression Otzelberger commanded respect from his team and was headed in the right direction.

Am surprised that Minnesota did not try to get T.J - definitely knows the Midwest area
Think most people expected T. J to use the UNLV job as springboard to a P5 offer
yes UNLV is a very interesting place to coach but it is still in the MW - a mid major conference
