The tax cuts have ballooned the debt. Most workers benefited not one bit from the promised job creation opportunities presented by this latest iteration of Reagan trickle down. All of the tax cuts should expire. If they do the Republicans will be happy. Why? Because the deficit will be mostly cured. Spending has ballooned the debt. The sound Tax Policy put in place by Bush has increased revenue when tested in a stable model. Insane spending has been the problem. Nope. The Bush tax cuts and all those wars ballooned the debt. |

Why don't you and all like minded souls just pay a higher tax rate? Nothing is stopping you. I think it would be an outstanding way for you to demonstrate your moral superiority. I should think a 75% self-imposed tax rate would go a long way in assisting your fellow Americans escape the cruel vagaries of the capitalist system. Think of the extra taxes as sort of a church tithe since your religion is big government. I am willing to pay, but I want you to take responsibility and pay too. The thought of you squeezing for that last dollar just warms my innards. ;D I am not morally superior. I think conservatives have it wrong. Big government is not what you despise. Paying taxes is. If it was just big government, you would not want to spend six quintillion dollars on national defense (without VA benefits of course). No. It's big government I despise....and dipshit leftards too damn stupid to know when they're being enslaved. Friggin' serfs....dumbass subjects bowing to their almighty betters. They disgust me beyond words. The laughable part is that people like you actually think you're contributing to some greater good when all you're really doing is keeping Northern Virginia recession proof. Cantor knows the long term plan for reducing the budget: eliminate Medicare; eliminate Social Security; eliminate the FDA; eliminate the SEC; eliminate the FDIC; eliminate HHS. He also knows he can't say that in public. I see some people still believe that Federal revenues increased after tax cuts. Those people conveniently ignore population and inflation. Federal revenues increase regardless of whether there are tax cuts. I notice that none of the proponents of tax cuts have made mention of real Federal revenue per capita. When they do and provide the figures to support their position I will listen to them. Another interesting comment made with regard to tax cuts is that such cuts will translate into more American jobs. Exactly how enabling an investment banker to buy another Ferrari translates into more U.S. jobs is unclear. Most of the U.S. assembly jobs have been shipped to places like China where the workers are paid about $80 per month. Those jobs are not comming back. Show us the basis for your opening statement. If you can't see how buying a new car, even a foreign car, creates jobs and tax revenue, you can't understand much. |

I am pretty sure spending and bailouts have ballooned the debt. If I ran my finances the same way congress runs the country I would be in jail. These idiots think that class envy and killing small business is the answer. Our creeps on the left are so beholdant to the unions. The link that matters is that small businesses generally are not unionized. We creep closer and closer to tyranney everyday. Take away the wars and the tax cuts and there is no debt. Remember Clinton (a Democrat showed a surplus)? Creeps on the left? If you want to call names, liberals can easily give better than we get. Unions are groups of people, your neighbors, seeking an even bargaining position with business. Since equal status negotiations and exchanges are the essence of capitalism I guess that makes you a socialist, huh? Starting to get boringly repetitive. Unions have a function, but in the big picture do more harm than good. The misuse of union dues alone should be addressed by you on the left if you really care about the union membership. |

Iraq War, Afganistan War, War On Terror, introducing huge Department of Homeland Security (TSA patdowns) while cutting taxes is what got us into this mess. Not to mention a financial meltdown under Bush's watch. Bush inherited a budget in the black and turned over a country in crisis to Obama.

Okay, here's the deal... The premise is that tax cuts for the "rich" increase tax revenues by giving them the money to increase hiring, the workers then pay taxes, etc. Problem is, there is already plenty of money to hire -- the reason nobody is hiring isn't because they don't have money; it is because there is no demand. Everybody is trying to pay down their debt. It doesn't make a lot of sense to hire people to make products that you can't sell. So rather than extending the tax cut on the "rich", don't. Instead, not only extend the tax cut on the middle class but increase it -- so that the total cut (in dollars) is the same that it would have been if you had extended the cut on everybody. It is just all directed at the middle class. The right should be reasonably happy -- it is exactly the same size as the tax cut that they are arguing for. The left should love it -- the rich don't get their tax cut. And business should love it -- because it is directed at increasing demand for their products. Yoda out... Bingo-bango... That is the correct answer. Great post. |

Always lost in these discussions is for one of the greedy leftards that populate this forum to answer the question "HOW MUCH?" What level of taxation would satisfy the craven vultures of the left? How much do you worthless scum sucking thieves want? Taken together; federal, state, sales, energy etc, the government confiscates in excess of 50 cents of every dollar I earn. In that light I think it's only fair that if you advocate even more confiscatory action by the government that you yourself should be willing to part with at least 75% of your income just to set an example for all us greedy capitalists. Of course at you income level 75% would supply a poor family with a couple of days of government cheese, but it's the thought that counts. I've offered things I think should be cut - you just don't like them. Cut ag subsidies for every ag-corporation. Ain't no way some huge corporation should be getting subsidies, but true family farmers, such as the dairy farmers I grew up around should be able to get them. And as I advocated above, don't start paying military retirement to anyone other than disabled vets - and I'd include PTSD in that definition - until they reach at least 50. That would put them in line with cops and firemen. When someone retires at age 38, that's the prime of their earning years and they shouldn't need to collect a check every month from the taxpayers. =Bob |
